Hawkins of Canton and Miss Margaret Burgin enter tained with an informal tea Wed jirsday afternoon in honor of their mother, Mrs. Francis A. Burgin. The affair marked the 80th birth day of the honor guest and was given at her home, 143 Merrimon Avenue, Asheville. Sharing honors with Mrs. Bur gin was her brother, the Rev. Charles F. Owen of Canton, who celebrated his 78th birthday. . The tea table was covered with a linen cloth and held a center-- piece of mixed summer flowers. . Relatives and close friends call ed during the appointed hours. Mrs. Burgin, who is the widow of the late Francis Asbury Burgin, Resided in Waynesville until 1947 vhen she moved to Asheville. She is the former Miss Ida Cumi Owen, daughter of the late Robert L. and Margaret Murray Owen, pioneer Residents of Haywood county. She as born near Dellwootl, July 11, 1871. Crisp of Brevard; Mrs. W. B. Hawkins of Canton, Mrs. tM. T. Rogers and hiss Lillian and -Margaret - Burgin of Asheville. Another son, Charles A. Burgin, died several years ago. '.. ;- Iron Duff Club Studies Flower Arrangements , Mrs. Frank M. Davis and Mrs. Nancy Medford conducted a study on Flower Arrangement at the July meeting of the Iron Duff 1 tome Demonstration Club, Friday afternoon. ; Mrs. Oral Yates was hostess for the meeting and Mrs. Davis, vice president, presided. Thirteen members were present and refreshments were served dur ing the social hour. Shower Honors Mrs. Phillips, Recent Bride Mrs. Ralph Phillips, the former Miss Judy Goodin, was honored at a party and miscellaneous shower given Thursday night with Mrs, James W. Reed and Mrs. James Davis as hostesses in the home of the former. Summer flowers were used throughout the house and the brid al motif was rioted in the dining room where the table was center ed with an arrangement of shasta daisies, Informal games were played and refreshments were served by the hostesses. ' Sally Stovall Honored At Camp Greystone Miss Sally Stovall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Stovall, Way nesville, was recently honored by being elected as lieutenant of her cabin group at Camp Greystone. Lieutenants are elected by the girls themselves and are chosen lor their ability to lead their group, and for their attitude of coopera tion and good sportsmanship. Camp Greystone is now in its 32nd continuous year under the same management. Located on beautiful Lake Summitt at Tuxedo, near Hendersonville. Floor Demonstration To Be Given Tues. The Rev. Charlotte Bishop and the Rev. Ruth Gruber, pastors of the Free Methodist Church, left today for Kissimmee, Florida to at tend the annual conference of the Georgia and Florida Districts of the Free Methodist Church. Campbell Reunion Set For Sunday The twentieth annual reunion of the Campbell Family will be held next Sunday at the home of John B. Campbell at Maggie. The pro gram wil begin at 12:00 noon and a picnic lunch will be served at 1 o'clock. Fred Campbell, president of the family group, will preside during the day and Frank Campbell is in charge of the program. Other of ficers include Miss Louise Camp bell, secretary and Miss Bessie Boyd, historian. New officers will be elected at the reunion. : . MRS. GENEBACH LEAVES TOMORROW FOR GERMANY Mrs. L. B. Genebach, Jr., and young son are leaving New York tomorrow to return to Germany where the former's husband, Lt. Genebach, is stationed with the army of occupation.' They have been in the states for several weeks visiting Mrs. Genebach's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Martin, here, and more recently visiting Lt. Genebach's parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Genebach, Sr., in Battle Creek, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Martin and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Martin, Jr., left Sat urday for New York to meet Mrs. Genebach and her son and see them off to Germany. Mrs. R. C. Tuttle left Asheville Saturday by plane for Chicago to join her young son, Michael, who has been visiting Mrs. Tuttle's sis ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Weber, at their cot tage at Lake Delavan, Wisconsin' for the past two weeks. Mrs. Tuttle and Michael will return home about the first of August, driving back with Mr, and Mrs, Weber. Golf Club Members Play Scotch Foursome Mrs. Ceil Wagner and Aaron Prevost won the low gross score in the Scotch foursome played by members of the Waynesville Golf Club Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ann Watkins and Jonathan Woody had low net score. In the count for low putts, Mrs. Hazel Clauson and Bill Frazier tied with Mrs. Arny Mor ford and Eric Clauson. Mrs. Morford won the driving contest for the ladies on No. 10 hole. . ' . ' Mr. and Mrs, C. L. Dickson of Durham are guests of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Massie. Miss Wyche Is Honored At Dessert Bridge Miss Jane Wyche, bride-elect of August, was hohjored at a dessert bridge and canasta party given Fri day afternoon with Mrs, Thomas Stringfield, Mrs. Stella Hall, and Miss Martha Stringfield as host esses in the home of Miss String field. , Arrangements of mixed summer flowers were used in decorating. Mrs. T. Lenoir Gwyn won the high score prize for bridge players and Mrs. M. G.
