The Rev. L. F. Cowan, of Stan field, near Charlotte, has been in vited by the Hazelwood and Beth el Presbyterian Church Pulpit Committees to visit the field and preach Sunday. Mr. Cowan is a member of Mecklenburg Presby tery, and is a graduate of Davidson College and of Union Theological Seminary, Richmond, Va. He is married and has three children. The Pulpit Committees of the two churches are responsible for nominating to the congregations a pastor to succeed the Rev. Paul P. Thrower, who has resigned in or der to accept a call to the Presby terian Church of Pickens, S. C. The Hazelwood committee is composed of L. N. Davis, chairman, a new elder in the church; E. W. Greene a deacon; William Green, Jr., a layman; and Miss Edith Sum merrow, president, Of the Women of the Church, The. Bethel committee is com posed of Clifton S.
