Everyone is cordially lnlvued.
The young man could not
bring himself to part with hi3
wealth, however, and so he turned,
sorrowfully away. ,
. Now we turn to St. Paul's let
ters to the Thessalonians, where
Paul whites: "That, ye study to(
be quiet, and to do your own dusi
ness, and to work with your own;
hands, as we commanded you;
"That ye may walk honestly
toward them that are without,
and that ye may have lack of
nothing." 1
Again. Paul reminds the Thes
salonians that, while he was with
them, "we behaved not ourselves
disorderly among you;
"Neither did we cat any man's
bread for naught; but wrought
, with labor and travail night and
day, that we might not be charge
able to any of you;
"Not - because we have - not
power, but to make ourselves an
ensample (example) unto you to
follow us. ' - ,
"For even when we were with
you, this we commanded you, that
if any would not work, neither
should he eat."
As a matter of fact, life hold3
few satisfactions that surpass
that' of knowing we have done a
job well and in a workmanlike
manner. Whether it be digging
ditches, planting a flower garden,
building a house or furnishing it
after it is built.
Bookkeeping, typing," writing,
selling no matter what our work
js we can get a wonderful feel

Not onlv that, but it ts a benefit
to the world at large, because it
shows the solid character of the

But there is a better way. Religious training is a sure vac
cine against the spiritual disease that produces criminals. The
Church can provide our children with the God-given moral
foundations on which life should be built.
And which is the stronger safeguard of tHe things we hold
dear? A pair of steel "bracelets" ... or a Church crowded with
eager children and conscientious parents?,
