August Assembly Plans
Fifteen conferences and special Daniel, F.A.G.O., director of music

sic Week, August 20-26, and the
traditional coronation of Queen
Junaluska, August 18.
Half of these are individual or
one day events, while the others
are regular conference programs
lasting several days to two weeks
each. The schedule includes ses
sions twice daily at the circular
Junaluska Auditorium at 11 a.m.
and 8 p.m. for tourists and resi
dents of the area, as well as for
delegates.

U. S. Committee on Public Works,
Emory University trustee and a
Methodist layman, will deliver the
Emory University Day address at
11 a.m. At the 8 o'clock hour, Bob
Brown's famous Science circus, de
signed to interest and to enter
tain, will be given,
Sunday, August 5, Bishop Paul
N. Garber, presently serving in
the Richmond Area, but whose
previous European Episcopal Area
includes nations now behind , the
Iron Curtain, will speak at the
morning and evening services.
Dr. W, B. Davies, exchange pro
fessor at Duke University, will be
heard the morning of August 11.
Duke University Night will be ob
served at the evening service,
August 12 Is- Junaluska Sunday
with Bishop Clare Purcell, Bir
mingham Area, delivering the
morning sermon and Dr. Davies the
evening address. This is an annual
event when summer visitors are
given an opportunity to contribute
to the expansion program of this

Dale Hagler, pastor, Bryan Mem
orial Methodist Church, Miami,
Fla., Since 1935 will speak at 11
a.m. and 8 p.m. Dr. Hagler is an
author and leader in the field of
combining psychology with Chris
tian teachings to effect the solu
tion of difficult personal problems.

The two-day meeting for secre
taries, treasurers and statisticians
of the 17 Annual Conferences of
the Methodist Church in the nine
Southeastern states is scheduled
for August 2-3. Sessions are to be
held in the auditorium chapel
with Dr. E. H. . Nease, Charlotte,
as president and Dr. Don C. Cooks,
Miami, Fla.; as secretary.

Jurisdictional Historical' Society of
the Methodist Church will register
at Lambuth Inn, Saturday, August

during Preaching Week, August
13-19. Dr. Pitt-Watson has been ac
tive in ocumenical church affairs,
as well as in the field of educa
tion, as is evidenced by his service
as a delegate to the First General
Assembly of the World Council of
Churches at Amsterdam in 1948.
August 20-24, Bishop Paul B.
Kern of the Nashville Area, will
present a series of Bible lectures al
9:30 each morning, in the beautiful
Memorial Chapel. During Ids 20
years as Bishop, he has gained a
reputation for deep, clear thinking
presented in an easy-to-understand
manner. ;'
The Radio and Film Workshop
previously scheduled for August
27-29 has been cancelled.
Coronation 'of the Queen of
Junaluska is a traditional event
which brings together the Junalus
ka family in a "happy,' gald occa
sion. Individuals, young and old,
the hotels and business houses
recognize the event as one of in
terest and importance. The event,
preceded several days by election
of the Queen, Is marked by state
ly and dignified pageantry.

When friends' come over for a
snack after a football game, serve

a bit salad, and lots of coffee. Des

In making a soft custard sauce,
have the water in the bottom part
of the double boiler about one
inch deep and keep it at simmer
ing temperature. The sauce should
be stirred constantly while it is
cooking.
For the television snack; tray
serve pale dry ginger ale mixed
either with pineapple juice or with
canned apricot nectar; use half
ginger ale and half fruit juice and
pour over ice cubes.
