Set Next Week
For Communities
Two more Community picnic
days are slated for next week, the
third and fourth of this year's ser
ies. Turner Cathey, assistant coun
ty agent, has suggested that each
community appoint one or more
persons to be in charge of the in
the Southern States with headquar
ters in Atlanta. Other guests will
be Brigadier E. E. Agnew of St.
Petersburg, and Captain Ivy Water
worth of Atlanta who will cover
the event for the War Cry.
Among those on the program will
be Vice-Chief McKinnley Ross and
his quartet from Cherokee; the
Rock Springs Choir from the In
dian Reservation; The, Friendly
Five; The Shelton Quartet; and
the Mother Singers from Leicester.

Director of Christian Education of
Centenary Methodist C h u r ch,
Quincy, Florida, Miss Parish is at
present at Lake Junaluska, where
she is directing the Senior Depart
ment Laboratory School.- All Meth
odist youth of the community are
cordially invited to attend and take
part in this school.
The daily schedule for the four
days is as follows: , v
7:00-7:30 Fellowship supper;
7:30-8:30 Planning and discus
sion;
8:30-9:00 Worship;
9:00-9:30 Recreation.
Planning and discussion by the
group will be in "Making Jesus'
Way Our Mission as We Vitalize

caution around the curves.

closes at 4 p.m.

Anniversary
The Clyde Baptist Church ob
served its 87th anniversary and
third Homecoming Day Sunday,
with more than 300 friends and
members in attendance, Dr. Rob
ert L. Holt, who is head of .the
Department of Religion at East
ern Carolina Teachers College, de
livered the morning and evening
services.
An interesting talk was given by

Beach, Calif. Her '"husband was
pastor of the church from 1897 to
1903, at which time it Was still
known u Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church. Mrs. Wilkins, who is visit
ing relatives in Mars Hill, told of
life in the community as it was
lived a half century ago, One fact
brought out was that three of the
charter members, two women and
one man, were colored people. Pas
tor D. D. Gross observed later that
while' at present there are no
colored members, there are no re
strictions upon their joining if they
should so desire.
