SAM FERGUSON Mountaineer Reporter Sunday was Homecoming Day at Fines Creek Baptist Church, with people coming from far and near, The Rev. Jarvis Teague delivered the morning sermon. Choirs and quartets sang during the afternoon, and N. H. Ferguson, a former Fines Creek resident, made a talk. Dec oration of ' graves continued through the day. , Announcement was made by the pastor, W. N. Reece, that services at the Fines Creek Memorial Bap tist Church' have been changed from the first and third Sundays in the month to the second and fourth Sundays. Friday Fines Creek Community were hosts to East Pigeon. Details of the field day appear elsewhere in the paper. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Turling ton and family of Newport News, Va., have been visiting in this sec tion. They have also been guests of Mrs. Turlington's mother, Mrs. J. W. Roberts of Dellwood Road. Mrs. Turlington is the former Miss Lucille Ferguson of Fines Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Hugh C. McCrack en an dfamily of Hartford, Conn., are' spending several days with Mr. McCracken's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. McCracken. Herman Green, who has been on the sick list for some time, has the wishes-of the community for a speedy recovery. . Mr', and Mrs. Jack Ferguson and children are spending a few days in Fayetteville as the guests of Mr. Ferguson's sister, Mrs. J. B. Webb. ' A number of new buildings are going up along Fines Creek. Glenn' Noland and Wiley Ledford are building new houses. Hugh Fergu son has just completed a new ten ant house, and is building a silo. F. C. Green has built a new tobacco barn. Davis Price, France Rogers and Joe Kirkpatrick are building additions to their barns for tobac co. Reeves Ferguson is adding a new kitchen to his house. . The section has had two or three nice rains recently, rains which were badly needed. Crops, especial ly corn and tobacco, were begin ning to suffer.
