Alley, the mountain cour ties have reaped a great harvest from tourist income during the spring-summer' months, with heavy travel predicted during the fall color season. It is estim ated that 19M business will show an increase, of from 30 to 50 for the reeion. ' WNCTA vas organized two years ago as a non-profit organization to promote and further develop tour ist business in 12 western counties through publicity, and by fur nishing hi1h type accommodations, courtesy, find service to the region's visitors.- ; . The" organization has expanded rapidly and haj been instrumental in" bringing in , increased travel business this year by distribution of around 50,000 Vacation Maps with listing of all resort places in the twelve-county area,, Rev. W. L. Broom To Preach at Clyde Sunday The Reverend W. L. Broome of Lake Junaluska, will fill the pul pit of Central Methodist Church, Clyde, Sunday morning at eleven ! o'clock, according to an announce ment made today by Rev. W. T. Medlin, Jr., the church's pastor. Mr. Medlin, together with other ministers and laymen, will be in Greensboro attending the ses sions of the Western North Caro lina Conference of the Methodist Church. Okel Evans, Methodist minister of Fines Creek, is attend ing the conference in Greensboro this week. The Rev. Mr. Broome, visiting minister, conducted services Sun duy at Piney Grove Church. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duckett visited Mrs. Duckett's father, John Rogers, and other relatives here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Furman Noland were hosts at a dinner party Sun day. About twenty guests were present. ' Glenn Brown And Don Hipps Are On Wake Forest Drive Glenn W. Brown has been nam ed chairman of the Waynesville dis trict, and Don Hipps of Canton, to start the drive for funds for The Create Wake . Forest Campaign. Dr. Boyd Owen will assist Mr. Brown in this area. The two Haywood men were ap pointed by Harold W. Tribble, president of Wake Forest, E. Z. Stinea, of Astoeville, is district manager. ' The goal is to raise two millions by July 1952 in order td get a gift of two millions which will be paid if the three millions is raised . In April of this year the trustees estimated that $15,500,000 would be needed to construct the build ings essential to the removal of the scheol from Wake Forest to Wfn-stdn-Salem. With ' $7,500,000 al ready raised, this left a balance of eight millions to be raised. In June it was announced that an anony mous gift of two millions would be given on condition that three mil lions would be raised by July 1952. Recently Will Reynolds' left the school a million dollars, which leaves two million more to raise in order to receive the large anony mous gift. In the meantime the construction program is getting: underway, and tentative plans are for President Truman to attend the ground breaking ceremonies on October 15th.;.:. .
