GEORGE WORLEY Mountaineer Reporter ( Beaverdam residents are proud of the attractive sign on the front laWn of the Beaverdam school. The sign was purchased by the Com munity Development Program with part of the prize money received in the CDP contest. The sign adds dignity to the school lawn, and in forms people who pass what school it is. . the people of the Beaverdam Baptist Church sponsored a hymn program Thursday night at' the Beaverdam school. The ladies old food and hand made articles. A profit of $300 will go into the church build ing fund. Residents of the "community re gret that Mrs. Brown, wife of the pastor, continues ill. She entered a Winston-Salem hospital last week. 4 The WSCS of the Beaverdam Methodist Church met Friday night at the home of Mrs. Bill Boone. A large crowd was present, including some new members. Members are delighted that Mrs. W. L. Broome, wife of the new pastor, will jjoin the women of the society. and other points. Mrs. Tom Fish, who has been ill, is improving at the home of a niece, Mrs. Carmel Parham. Marvin (Bud Mann has received his discharge from the U. S. Marine Corps. Mrs. Crawford Rice is improving following surgery at the Haywood County Hospital. Mrs. Maude Smathers, sister of Mrs. Rice, is also a patient at. the hospital. She is receiving treatment for a fool injured in a fall. Mrs. Smathers and Mrs. Rice have the luck of occupying the same hospit al room. Mrs. Archie Scott is confined to her bed by illntss. . Mr. and Mis. Steve Miller have received a report from the War De partment . that (heir son Bobby is wounded and (hat he received the Purple Heart the first of August A previous report had been that young' Miller -had been killed. The present report did not state in what hospital be is. Mrs. W. C. Robinson and Mrs. Bill Boone represented the Beaver dam school at the district Parent Teacher Association meeting in Hendersonville Thursday of last week. , Miss Christine Robinson, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley Robin son,, is back from a two-week vaca tion trip to New YorkWashington, Greensboro College Has Four County Students Haywood County is represented at Greensboro College this year by four - students; Frances Fisher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.", B, J. Sut tles of Canton. ; Represented in the student body this year are students, from 67 counties in North Carolina and 5 other states including Alabama, Massachusetts, New York, South Carolina, and Virginia. Mrs. Albert Mease and Mrs. Bill Kinsland were hostesses. Mrs., Mattic Abel, Mrs. Ralph Evans, J. C. Fisher and the Rev. Mr,i Maxwell of Long.'s Methodist Church, Mrs. Ruby Schaut, Mrs. Weaver Sheffield, and the Rev. J. Collins of Bethel Methodist Church attended the Methodist District Missionary Institute at the First Methodist Church in Franklin on Thursday. Th Bethel MYF won first place on the talent show and the banner at the sub-district MYF meeting at Crabtrce last Monday night.
