Con federate Woman's Home in Fayet teville thanking the chapter for apples sent at Thanksgiving. Fallowing the meal, rec reation was under the direction of Mrs. Gay Chambers. Mrs. H. L. Foster, Mrs. Jim Queen and Mrs. Walter Jones. Mrs. Frank Mease led the group in Christmas carols, after which Mrs. H. L. Foster gave a Christmas devotional. One of the amusing features of the recreation- 1 al program was the presentation of a cake to the "ugliest husband in Henson Cove" M. V. Bramlett. Re lays and games, under the direction of Mrs. Chambers, brought much I laughter and enjoyment to men, women, and children, after which Santa's gifts were distributed. The House Committee was com posed of Mrs. Bramlett, Mrs. L. N. Cogburn, Mrs. Carl Green, Mrs. Oliver' Hill, Mrs; Frank Mease, Mrs. Woodrow Steppleton and Mrs. Ma- rida J. Wilson. Presbyterian Christmas Party To Be Held Soon On Wednesday night the men of the Waynesville Presbyterian Church will meet with all the offi cers and teachers of the Sunday School for a Christmas party and supper. Meeting place is the Church, and the time is 7 p.m. It is the regular monthly supper meeting for the men, and it is the annual party for the others. Members of. the Society voted to buy gifts for the aged and sick of the community for Christmas. ''.'..'. J. R. McGoha Dies At 96 At Maggie James Riley McGaha, 96, died Thursday morning at his home! In the Maggie section aner a linger ing illness. He was the son of the late Ike and Jane Yarborough McGaha of Maggie. ' Funeral services were held Sat urday at 1 p.m. in Olive Baptist Church. The Rev. M. Ledford and the Rev. James Coleman officiated and burial was in Crawford Mem orial Park, Waynesville Pallbearers were Pless and James Conard, Jim McGaha, William Cope, Willie McHaffey and Wilson Phillips. i Nieces were flower bearers. Surviving are six daughters Mrs Lon Cope of Sylva, Mrs. Cash Knight of Dellwood, Mrs. John B Mathis of Blltmore, Mrs. Hubert Conard and Mrs. Will Brown of Waynesville, RFD 1, and Mrs. Dave Harrison of Waynesville. Also three sons, Frank, Cass and Alvin of Maggie; 45 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
