Cannon, Chairman of District III, and Mrs. Carl Med ford. president of the Haywood Couni> Council of Home Demons tration Clubs, will attend the Na tional Home Demonstration Coun cil meeting in Raleigh October 25 29. They will assist with flower arrangements for the entire confer ence and for the reception to be given in the Governor's mansion on Monday night. Oct. 27. The Council meeting will be at tended by delegates from each state in the Union and several for elgn countries. This is the first year this conventiou has been held in North Carolina and the second time it has ever been held in the south. The program, centered on the theme "Forw'ard to Peace with Freedom", will feature addresses by Dr R. B. House, Chancellor of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill; Mrs. Haven Smith, president of the American Country Life Association; Dr. Carl R. Wood ard. president of the University of Rhode Island; Dr. Hornell Hart of Duke University. Mrs. Cannon and Mrs.' Medford will be accompanied to Raleigh by Miss Mary Cornwell, Haywood home demonstration agent. Tuesday night, October 28. Hay wood County representatives will assist with the entertainment for North Carolina Night, which will be the highlight of the week's pro gram. Girl Scout Week Will Be Observed Here Next Week Girl Scouts and their small sis ters, the Brownies, of the Pisgah ; Girl Scout Council will observe the 1 annual celebration of Girl Scout Week, October 26 to November 1. i Members of the Hazelwood-Way- ! nesville area will begin the obser- i vance Sunday morning when the girls with their leaders and council members will attend the service at the First Baptist Church. Each day of the week is desig nated to represent a different-phase of the Girl Scout program. Mon day is Homemaking Day; Tuesday, Citizenship Day; Wednesday, Health and Safety Day; Thursday, International Friendship D a v; Friday, Arts and Crafts Day; and Saturday is Out-Of-Doors Day. Mrs. Frank Kirkpatrick, Mrs. Marion Bridges, and Mrs. Lawrence Leatherwood were named on a nominating committee and plans were made for the Christmas party to be held December 13 in the home of Mrs. Carl Ratclitfe.
