Waynesville attorney, attended a three-day y amine period at the University of North Carolina last week-end. for discussion leaders of the Ameri can Heritage Project, sponsored by the American Library Association. Mr. Medford wi!J be the discus sion leader for the Haywood C'ountj Library. 'In the words of the American Library As ociation, the American Heritage Project is being promot ed "to provide opportunities for men and women to meet together regular!} and discuss the problems of today in th: light of the basic documents, ideas and experiences \< hieh constitute oar American Heritage". Its aims are "to help i people become better informed? to gain awareness of their respon sibilities as citizen*- in a democ racy?and to achieve a willingness , to apply their own thinking in building better communities". Only twenty-five libraries in Xorth Carolina are participating in the project. Miss Margaret Johnston. librari an. has stated that registration for persons interested in joining the discussion group may register at the library. Miss Johnston is chairman of the county and regional library sec tion of the association and will be in charge of two programs during the conference. Miss Johnston was accompanied by Mrs. T.
