L'nited Daughters of the Confederacy Friday afternoon in the home of Mrs. Ferguson. Mrs. Rov Campbell pre-ided dur ing the business hour and reports were given by other officers and committee chairmen. The chapter planned to hold its annual Christ map party. The program was pre ented by Mrs. James R Boyd. A social hour followed the meet ing and refreshments were served by the hostesses. * * * David Jones of Pasadena. Texas, sen of Jule Jones, formerly of Waynesville. is visiting his aunts. Mrs. T. C. Norris and Mrs. Lucy Henderson of Jones Farm. He is also visiting Robert Jones and Mrs. Fred Plott at Candler. Mr. Jones made the trip from Texas by plane and will spend two weeks here. Vr? Women Of Presbyterian Church Meet Tuesday The women of the Waynesville; Presbyterian Church will hold their regular monthly meetting at 7 j o'clock Tuesday. November 11, at' the church. PLANS ARK?18 The annual county Home Dem onstration Achievement Exhibit will be held Tuesday and Wednes day, November 18 and 19, in the Waynesville Armory, according to an announcement by Miss Mary Cornwell, home demonstration agent. Exhibits are being prepared by | each club in the county and will j be assembled Monday. November I 17, and until 10 a.m. on Tuesday, i November 18. Judging will start1 Tut sday morning at 10 o'clock and the exhibits will be scored as fol lows.? i I. General Appearance ? 50 points. a. Clarity. Is the theme and purpose of exhibit easily understood? 15 points. b. Organization Are major points of exhibit > well organized and definitely related to the theme ? 15 points. c. Attractiveness and general appearance. Are all points clarified with good posters, placed neatly in the right places for em phasis?20 points. II. Educational Value ? 50 points. Does the exhibit inspire, motivate and suggest ways to! interest rural women i n Home Demonstration Club| work and definitely teach a point? Fla., after a visit in the home of Mrs. Harry Hyatt. Mrs. Kirkwood is the former Miss Mary Louise Pet tit of New York and at one time resided in Waynesville. ? * # Cyril Minett, who has a position with the Liberty Life Insurance Company in Durham, spent the week-end with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Minett. ? ? ? Mr. and Mrs, E. D. Fisher left today for Yakima. Washington where they will make their home. Mrs. Fisher, who has been book mobile librarian for the Haywood County Library, will be connected with the Yakima Public Library. ? # ? Mrs. Bonner Ray spent the week-end in Murphy as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Case. County Chorus Is Organized By Mr. Isley Around fifty members of Hay wood County Home Demonstration Clubs and their husbands attend ed the organizational meeting of the Haywood County Chorus which was held Thursday night in the Waynesville High School Band Building. Charles Isley, music director of the high school, was in charge of organizing <he group and will di rect the chorus. Practice sessions will be held in the band building each Thursday evening at 7: JO o'clock. The chorus, which is being spon sored bv the Wavnesville Junior Chambt r of Commerce with the assistance of Mr. Islev and Miss Mary Cornwell, home demonstra tion gecnt. is being organized for "the purpose Of giving more people a greater appreciation of music. Its aims are also to develop music leaders for rural churches and clubs and ultimately to participate in community programs. Miss Cornwell announced this morning that all interested club members and their husbands are invited to join the chorus and shou'd be present for the next meeting Thursday night. ? * * Ann Dulin Had Bithday Party Wednesday Virginia Ann Dulin celebrated her eleventh birthday with a par ty Wednesday afternoon in her home on Assembly Street. A Thanksgiving motif was car ried out in the decorations and the guests were presented yo-yos as favors. The young hostess was as sisted by her mother, Mrs. H. M. Dulin, and her sister, Tempie Du lin. Attending the party were Bar bara Gail Caldwell, Nancy Leming. Maggie Club Held All-Day Workshop An all-day workshop was held by the Maggie Home Demonstra tion Club Thursday in the base ment of the Maggie Methodist Church. The workshop, conducted by Miss Mary Cornwell, was on weav ing chair seats from ilong Kong grass and each member completed one article.
