Rev. and Mrs. D. D. Gross Honored With A Dinner The Reverend and Mrs D. D. Gross and son, John, were guests of honor at a supper held Tuesday of last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Medford in Clyde. Following the supper, words of love and appreciation for the work done by Mr. Gross as pastor of the Clyde Baptist Church were spoken by Mr. Grover Haynes, Church Moderator. Waynesville A May Day program, with the theme. "Spring Phantasy." will be presented on the playground of the East Waynesville School. Friday, May 1, at 1:30 p.m., with the entire student body participating. Ruth Galloway will be crowned May Queen and Judy Aiken will be maid of honor. Attendants will be Carolyn Muse. Rosanne Green, Sue Melton, Sand, a Jo CooDer, Sharon Walker, and Jeannette Melton. Oth er students will be heralds, pages, court jesters, and dancers and the rhythm band will perform. Miss Rogers Is Honored At Supper Party Miss Patsy Rogers, bride-elect of Carol Underwood, was honored at a supper party and lingerie shower given Saturday evening with Mrs. John Boyd as hostess at the home of her sister, Mrs. Joe Doggett. The dining table was centered with an arrangement of white tulips flank ed by white candles. Informal games were played dur ing the evening. Site used as her subject. "'You Are Impor tant," and pointed out the impor tance of full co-operation of club members by comparing club work to the making of a watch. Mrs. Alma McCracken, president of the local club, made the address of welcome and Miss Margaret Johnston introduced the guests, -who included presidents of the eight clubs in the district. Decorations for the occasion were in charge of the membership committee, composed of Miss Nancy Killian, Mrs. Lawrence Clark, and Mrs. Harry Sullivan. Red and white flowers were used on the tables and the guests were presented corsages in the same colors. About ninety Business and Pro fessional Women were present. * * * WTHS May Queen To Be Crowned At May Dance Norma Jean Winchester will be crowned Queen of May in a pag eant at the May Dance to be held bv the student council of the Waynesville High School tomorrow night at the armorv. The queen is a member of the senior class. She will be escorted by James Roy Moody. Evelyn Grant, also a member of the senior class will be maid of honor and will have as her escort Harold McClure. The attendants, chosen from each of the other high school classes, will be Mary Sue Morgan and Jeanne Bradley, juniors, es corted by Eugene Craig and Ray mond Inman. Sophomore attendants will be ! Betty Jo Shope with Jimmy Frady and Judy Abbott with Charlie Car penter, and freshman attendants will be Patsv Ann Holder with Gene Duckett and Dale Hall with Dibe Early. Miss Lediord Is Married To Henry Sutton Miss Myrtle Lediord. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Crawford Ledford of Canton, became the bride of Hen ry Sutton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Rose of Jonathan Creek. Sunday. April 26. at 2 p.m. in the White Oak Pigeon Baptist Church. The Rev. Pete Hicks, pastor of the church, performed the cere money and a program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. George Boring. * The church was decorated with, arrangements of white "ladiali and narcissus and the vows *?r? spok en before an arch formed of white dogwood and fern, flanked by bas kets of gladioli. The bride wore a navy suit with white accessories arftj carried a white Bible topped with yellow roses. Mrs. Yoder Messer of Iron Duff was matron of honor and the bride's only attendant. She wore a navy suit and her corsage was of white roses. Henry F. Tcague. brother-in-law of the bride, served as best man. Mrs. Ledford, mother of the bride, wore a navy crepe dress with pink accessories. The mother of the bridf groom wore a black dress with white accessories. After the ceremony a reception I was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry K. Teague. brother-in law and sistar of the bride. The bride's table was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom. Assisting in serving were Mrs. Teague Williams, Mrs. Odie Fish, Mrs. Robert Davis, Mrs. Rowe Ledford, Mrs. Joe Davis, and Mrs. George IlorinK. Following the reeepfion the couple left for a short wedding trip after which tjicy will reside in Canton.
