will be held at the Bethel High

Teachers Association of Bethel
school.
This festivity is being held to

The admission to the persons

five cents for adults. No admission

ipen to anyone and everyone who
wishes to make an appearance.

second and third prizes presented

The Bethel High School Band,
under the direction of Joe Morrow,
will also play at the event.

Group Performs
At Bethel High
Dean Ryther and the Gospel
Messengers recently presented a
performance at Bethel. The Gos

is a brass quartet, wth James
Reece, second trombone, Jesse
Deloe, first trombone, Don Whil
tiner, first trumpet, Alva Conner,
second trumpet, accompanied by
Armond Fritz at the piano.
They gave several instrumental
duets, trumpet and trombone solos,
accordian and piano solos, and al
so vocal solos. Each member of
the quartet gave a small speech
on the values of a college educa
tion, and why they decided to go
to Bryan.
Bryan is a Christ-centered liber
el arts college.

At Hospital

On Tuesday, May 12, from 1 to
5 p. m. the Home Demonstration
Club women will be general host
esses at the Haywood County Hos
pital's "Open House".
Nurses will be on duty in all the
"special areas" to" give complete
information to the guides in the
enlarged hospital.
The club women were assum
ing tremendous responsibility in
order to make the hospital Open
House a big success.
Mrs. Ray Haynes was chosen as
the guide from the Good Neighboi
Club and Mrs. W. C. Murray was
chosen as the receiving hostess
from the Good Neighbor Club ir
the Center Pigeon Community.

Records Center

The Geography class of Bethel
High School went to the Weather
Records Center in Asheville.
Tuesday, May 5. The group toured
the building and learned the func
tions of each department. Mr. Joy
ner, supervisor of tne machine
section, acted as guide for the
group. He explained every phase
of work and answered numerous
questions.
Following the tour, the group
had lunch at the S&W and visited
WW.NC radio station.
Mr. Bonarrigo, who teaches
geography at Bethel school, was
in charge of the tour.
Of a special interest to the group
was tlie card punch division and
the machine division where much
of the preparation and summariza
tion of weather information from
points all over the world are pro
cessed. Several electronic brain de
vices were of special interest also
Much of the information assemblec
at the U. S. Government office i;
microfilmed and stored for future
reference.
The process of microfilming was
quite fascinating. Some of this in
formation is printed and sent out
to subscribing agencies.

for the monthly meeting.
Mrs. Robert Pruett was in charge

Mrs. H. C. Crumley presented a
farewell gift to Mrs. A. L. Max
well, the pastor's wife, during the
social hour.

Road is visiting her daughter, Mrs.
Bill Hanrick in Savannah. Ga. She
left for the visit on May 3 and her
stay is indefinite.

Farm Interests

The Future Farmers of America
of Bethel High School visited sev
eral of the principal agricultural
centers in Ashevllle May 6.
The tour included a visit to the
Farmers Federation slaughter
house, where a demonstration pn
the various methods of preparing
meat for consumption was given;
Skyline Dairy, for a guided tour
of the dairy buildings; and the
Artificial Breeding Association of
fices.
Following the tour the club had
lunch and visited' the Farmers
Federation freezer locker plant
hatchery. At the latter the different
methods of hatching were dem
onstrated.
