The honor came as a reward for Miss Felmet's out standing service to 4-H Club work. Betty Felmet Is Tapped For 4-H Honor Club Miss Betty Felmet, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. "Jack Felmet of Waynesville. was one of thirty young people in the state tapped and inducted into the State 4-H Honor Club last week in Raleigh. The induction ceremony was held last Tuesday night as a part of the program of 4-H Week at North Carolina State College. After the new members had been tapped, the "service wheel," was formed with honorary mem bers serving as the wheel hub, old members as spokes, and the newly tapped members as the rim. Membership in the Honor Club is a reward for outstanding service to 4-H Club work through leader ship, moral standards, and 4-H Club activities. Miss Felmet, the first 4-H'e* from Haywood County to receive the honor, was awarded a Certifi cate of Recognition and is author ized to wear the Honor Club Rib bon and Pin. An active member of the 4-H Club during her years as a student at the Waynesville High School, Miss Felmet is now a member of the 4-H Club at Woman's College where she will enter the sopho more class this fall. She holds the office of secretary for the coming year. Miss Felmet has served as cabin counselor and group leader at the 1 4-H Camps at White Lake and Millstone Camp and has been a district winner in dairy foods dem onstrations. Last year she was dis-, trict winner in Girls' Records and Leadership and this year she won top honors in the county dress revue. Attending 4-H Week along with Miss Felmet were Miss Jean Child-1 ers, assistant home demonstration agent for the county, and the fol lowing 4-H members: Edwin Bry son of Iron Duff, Billy Best of Up per Crabtree, Neal Kelly of West Pigeon, Mack Ratcliffe of Cove j Creek, Richard Jones of Jonathan Creek, and Elaine Curtis of Clyde. ? * * Rector's Guild To Meet Tuesday Nite The Rector's Guild of Grace 1 Episcopal Church will meet Tues day at 8 p.m. at the Parish House with Mrs. C. F. Kirkpatrick as hostess. Members are asked to bring ar ticles for the bazaar to the meet ing. ?/..j, ? The Kerstens Are Hosts Of Dinner Dance Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Kersten were hosts at a dinner dance Sat urday evening at Balsam Moun tain Springs Hotel. Guests were seated for dinner at a U-shaped table which was dec orated with four mobile golfers complete with golfing outfits and clubs. The centerpiece was a large golf ball made of white carnations resting upon a red tee and place cards were small mobile figures of golfers. Library To Show Children's Films Tuesday Morning The first of a series of children's films will be shown at the Haywood County Library on Tuesday morn ing at 10 o'clock. Miss Margaret Johnston, librarian, announced. The library has rented about 15 films until August 20. These will be shown at the library, and they are also available without charge to camps, other groups and anyone who has a projector for the 16 millimeter film. Some of the films are in color. Among the titles just received are "Heidi," "Learning to Swim," "Life on a French Farm," "King Midas and the Golden Touch." "A Visit with the Cowboys," and "Lit tle Red Ridinghood." ? * * Canneries Set Dates For Weekly Operation The four community canneries will be in operation on the follow ing days next week: % Waynesville, Tuesday and Thurs day. Bethel, Wednesday. Fines Creek, Thursday. Crabtree, Wednesday and Fri day. I My Favorite Recipe MRS. CHARLES BCRGIN ANGEL FOOD CAKE 1 cup sifted Swansdown Cake >4 teaspoon salt Flour \V* teaspoons cream of tar 1V? cups sifted granulated sugar tar IV4 cups egg whites 1 teaspoon vanilla V* .teaspoon almond extract Sift flour once, measure, add tfj cup sugar; sift four times. Beat egg whites and salt with rotary egg beater or Hat wire whisk. When foamy, add cream of tartar; continue beating until eggs are stiff enough to hold in peaks, but not dry. Add remaining 1 cup sugar. 2 tablespoons at a time, beating with beater or whisk after each addi tion until sugar is just blended. Fold in flavoring. Sift about Vi cup flour over the mixture and fold in lightly; rqpeat until all is u?ed. Turn into ungreased 10-inch tube pan. Cut gently through bat ter with knife to remove bubbles. Bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees, 30 to 35 minutes. Kemove from oven and invert pan 1 hour, or until cake is cold. 100 Persons Attend Campbell Reunion More than one hundred persons attended the annual reunion of the Campbell Family, which was held Sudav at the C. A. Campbell Home at Dellwood. Hugh B. Campbell of Charlotte presided during the business and program sessions. The Rev. James H. Coleman, pas tor of the Shady Grove Methodist Charge, was the guest speaker. Other guests were the Rev. and Mrs. J. E. Yountz of Whynesville, Mr. and Mrs. Walter B. Two Local Girls To Make Debuts In September Miss Laura Woody and Miss Lane Provost will be presented at the annual Debutante Ball spon sored by the Terpsichorean Club of Raleigh, Friday evening, Sep tember 11. The two Waynesville girls will make, their debuts along with about one hundred and fifty girls from throughout the state. In addition to the Ball, the de butantes will be entertained at a number of other social functions during the three days of their visit in Raleigh. Miss Woody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Woody, is a ris ing sophomore at Randolph Macon College. Lynchburg. Va. Jr. was solemnized yesterday af ternoon, was honored at a miscel laneous shower given Thursday evening with Mrs. Mark Ferguson and her daughter, Miss Regina Ferguson as hostesses in their home on Fines Creek. A green and white motif was carried out in the decorations and appointments. Mrs. Fred Noland, mother of the bride-elect, presided at the punch table which was decorated with lilies of the valley and white tap ers.
