Mothers To March For Polio Dimes In Thickety Friday By MISS LURA WRIGHT Community Reporter A number of women in the Thickety community are preparing for the Mothers' March Friday evening, when homes will be vis ited to aid the March of Dimes. A lighi on every porch or door post i? the goal, and it is hoped work ers will not be disappointed. Mrs. Cora Flynn of Canton was honored at a birthday dinner Sun day at the home of Mr. and Mrs Jack Harris Mrs. Harris and Mrs L. R. Roberson of Candler were hostesses. Relatives attending were a brother. W. P. Harris, two sis ters. Mrs, Sarah Newman and Mrs Paul Murray, and Mr. Murray, L. R. Robeson, Mr. ftnd Mrs. Robert Harris and family, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Robinson and son. and Mrs Jim Harris and children, Nancy and Bruce. Mr. ad Mrs. Robert Hipps and children. James Ray and Rebecca June, visited relatives of Mrs Hipps' at Spindalc the latter part of the week. The Rev. and Mrs. W M Rath burn were dinner guests of Mrs. T. G Murray and family Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Haney and children of Newport News, Va [ visited his sister. Mrs. Nathan Wil son and family Saturday. Bobby Pressley of Candler who has returned after a year in Korea visited his grandparents. Mr and Mrs. J B Hipps, Sunday. The W M Williamson family were dinner guests of Mrs. George Worley and family at Beaverdam Sunday, the occasion being the birthday anniversary of Mr. Wil liamson. Mr. and Mrs. John Whitted had as their guests over the weekend their daughter, Mrs. Ernest Hen drix. Mr. Hendrix and daughter Wanda Carol, of West Ashevllle Miss Janice Jarene Hare of Ashe vitle. Marv Gail, Milas and Sandra, of Waynesville, visited her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hlpps Sunday Mrs. Charles Jacobs was hostess to the Wesleyan Service Guild of Pockwflod Methodist Church | Thursday evening. A program on the mission work in Malaya was given with Mrs. Gladys Burrell and Mrs David Burch taking part. Mrs Jacobs, the president, was in charge of the business, during which reports were heard and busi ness discussed The group voted a special offering for supply work in a nearby county. A social hour fol lowed and refreshments were en joyed. J I. Wagner, countv agent of Guilford County. Mrs. Wagner, and Mrs. Rubv Uzzle of Greensboro, were ffuests in the eommunity Thursday while ona visit to Hay wood County. Thev were welcom ed by Mrs. Gladvs Burrell. vice Chairman of the CDP. who showed them over the community's Recrea tion Center, an dat Rockwood Church where recent improvements have been made. Steve Cassell, as sistant county agent, accompanied the visitors to the community. An important meeting of the Thirkctv CDP has been scheduled for Thursday evening, February 4'h at the Rockwood Methodist Church at 7 o'clock County Agents Wayne Franklin and R S. Cassell are expected to attend and will outline some projects by which an added income can be realised bv the community. On. He had resided in Savannah for the past 12 years. Funeral sendees were held Wed nesday afternoon in the Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Cai rn; I. Bissett. pastor, and the Rev.
