Saunook CDP Meeting Changed To Friday Eve ? By MRS. JULIA McCLURE Community Reporter The meeting of the Saunook CDP for this month has been changed from Monday evening. March 8, to Friday evening. March 5. at 7:30 at the Saunook School Reason for the change is that the county agents can be present Fri day evening but cannot give us a date for Monday. Chairman Dillard Hooper urRes everyone in the community to make a special effort to attend. The BTU of the Green Valley Baptist Church have their fourth and final program at the Pleasant Balsam Church Sunday evening. The programs have been greatly enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. Carol Alexander and baby of Maryville, Tenn., spent the weekend with Mrs. Alexander's parents. Mr. and Mrs. John Sparks, at their home on the Balsam Road. Miss Frances Deal of Asheville ? spent a few days last week on Sau nook as the guest of her sister, Mrs. Edgar Mehaffey. Congratulations to Pvt. and Mrs. Ralph Pressley upon the arrival of a son at the Haywood County Hos pital March 1. Mrs. Pressley is the former Susie Kate Eavenson of Saunook. Mrs. Claude C MeClure and Mrs. Claude C. MeClure, Jr., gave a linen shower at their home on the Balsam Road Tuesday of last week. Baby Eddie Lee Is a new mem ber of the Arlington family. He was born January 5, 1954, in a U.S. Army Hospital in the town of Ar rington, England. Baptist Revival Averages 1004 In Attendance Record participation was report ed by the Haywood Baptist Asso ciation in its county-wide revival services last week. Of the 53 Bap list churches in the county. 48 took part, the largest representation on1 record, the Rev, J. Elmer Greene. I Associational Missionary, reported. Average attendance in the com bined five churches for each of the four nights of the revival was' 1004, with a top attendance of1 1062 one night. Average attendance bv preach ers at their revival meetings held each morning in the Woodland Baptist Church was 35. "The results were very gratify ing. and we all feel the project was n remarkable success particularly in terms of what we set out to do," Mr. Greene remarked. General theme of the entire re vival was "Growing Strong Churches". Services for surround ing regions were held nightly in each of these five Baptist churches: Hazelwood. Dellwood. Fines Creek, West Canton, and Spring Hill. Each of the participating minis iers used the following topics each af the four nights: Evangelism.' Missions. Stewardship and Ad vancement Through Dedication of the Individual. Mr Greene was assisted in the planning and promotion of the re vival by the Rev C. D. Sawyer and the Rev. W. N. Reece.
