Women Of Beaverdam Will Discuss Organizing Club At Monday Afternoon Meet By MRS. GEORGE F. WORLEY Community Reporter Miss Cornwell, Home Demons- 1 tratiion Agent, will meet the wo- J men who are interested in organ- 1 lzing a club next Monday afternoon ' at 2 o'clock, March 15, at the home of Mrs. Paul Clark, Sr. Her home is on the Clark road which turns left going up the Smathers Hill road. A large crowd is expected at this meeting so officers can be elected and the club get off to a good start. Mrs. J. C. Harrison whose phone number is 2071, is asking those who are interested in joining (he Cub Scout Troop, ages from 8-11 to please get in touch with her. She is much interested in organ izing this troop in the community. She met with a group at North Canton Church Monday night and they were pleased with receiving their Bobcat pins. The WS.C.S. of the Beaverdam Methodist Church is sponsoring a Stanley party at the church this Friday night. Any of the women from the community and else where are invited as the proceeds will be used for the new kitchen and dining room of the church. The women of this church met at the church from 10 till 2 Fri day to observe the week of Prayer. A good program was enjoyed and much good was accomplished. Rev. Broome, pastor, enjoyed the occa sion, also, James Worley, Edith Worley. Roy Parham, and Mrs. Wilma Freeman will start a radio program Sat urday morning from 615 till 6:30 over radio staiton WLOS, Ashe ville. The North Canton people will observe Old Folks' night at the church this Saturuday night. Mrs. Luther Clark who has boon quite ill at the home of her daugh ter, Mrs. Eston Moore, is improv ing. Mary Grace, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Hancy, is improving in the Haywood County Hospital following surgery. * Wanda O'Dear, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence O'Dear. entered Haywood County Hospital Mon day. Miss Shelby Jean Worley, daugh ter of Mrs Chester Worley and the late Mr. Worley, was married re cently to Roy I.ee McCoy. Mr. and Mrs, Doyle King ac Morning Star To Hold CDP Meeting 7:30 Friday Night By MRS. F.LDON BURNETTE Community Reporter The Morning Star Community Development group will meet Fri day night, 7:30, at the school. A large attendance is urged by the CDF officers. Miss Naomi Smathers, a nurse at Mission Hospital, spent the week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Smathers. Patsy Childers returned home last week from Haywood County Hospital following an operation for appendicitis. She is doing fine. Mr. and Mrs. Fldon Burnette and son Ray were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Crawford and daughter, Hilda, of the Iron Duff community Sunday. - Mr. and Mrs. Harold Moffitt gave an oyster supper at their home in Crabtree Saturday night. Those at tending from the Morning Star community were Mr. and Mrs. Kl don Burnette and Kay and Hilda Crawford from Iron Duff. Jackie Selzer, son of Mr. and Mrs, Fred Seller who has been sick for a week with the flu, is able to go back to school. Johnnie Rhodarmer has boon spending a few days at his home before being sent overseas. Hla brfther. Roger, who has been over seas for some time is expected home this week. They are the sons of Mr. and Mrs. John Rhodarmer. C V. Rhodarmer. son of Mr. and Mrs. Claud^* Rhodarmer. has been home on leave before going over seas. . . Mrs. Noel Fisher and son, Charles, have gone to New Orleans to spend two weeks with their sister and aunt. Harley Rhodes and wife return ed home from Florida where they spent their honeymoon They were eompanied Rev. C. V. Brown to Winston-Salem Sunday, where he entered the Baptist hospital for a check-up and perhaps for a week or two of rest. Bobby Jean, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Fletcher, will leave on the 13th with the naval reserve from Asheville for a two weeks cruise to Jamaica. Mrs, Ella Ford and Mrs. Dewey Fletcher will leave the 16th for Pasadena, Tex., where they will visit Mrs. Fletcher's son, Jack Fletcher and Mrs Ford's daughter, Mrs. Buddy Higgins. Mrs. George Worley and Eva Jane spent Friday in Waynesvillc and Mrs Worley attended the lec ture of Mrs. Arch Walker on flow er show prartice and horticulture at the First Methodist Church. Andy Ferguson attended the CiOP convention in Charlotte last Friday. We are sorry to hear that Floyd Stevenson is a patient in the Hay wood County Hospital. He burned his eyes very badly while welding in the shop at school last Friday. Jonathan Caldwell returned home last week from Baton Rouge, La. He, with several others from Waynesville, was entered in a bowling tournament there. I.ee Williamson spent several days last week visiting his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. 1 Lewis Williamson in Jacksonville, N.C. Bobbie Mae Welch and Stanley Underwood were visitors in the community over the last week-end Bobbie Mae is a former resident of the community.
