Large Crowd Attends Church's Anniversary Day By MRS MILLARD FERGUSON Community Reporter The 140th anniversary observed on last Sunday by the Crabtree Baptist Church was an occasion of pleasure to many people. Rev. Elmer Green of Hazelwood brought the morning message. Rev. Pink McCracken. of Lake .luna-' luska. a retired Baptist minister and former pastor, gave a hitsory of the church which is one of the oldest in the county. A Bible. 100 years old was pre sented to the church library by Edwin Haynes and his mother. A picnic style lunch was enjoyed at the noon hour. In tiie afternoon the Harmony Quartet of the Eto wah Methodist Church of Hender son County, gave a musical pro gram. using the old Christian Har mony song hook and singing hymns of the long ago. Many One-time members, now living in various places, met old friends and lived again the days of yester year. The revival meetings at C'rab tree Baptist. Liberty Baptist and Fincher's Chapel, have come to a close, with the addition of several new members to the different churches. Mrs. Joe Palmer and Mrs. G. C Palmer. Jr., represented the Crab tree-Hyder Mountain 11. L). C. at the cratt school held last week at ] the 4-11 Club House. They both took copper work. Miss Nancy Noland. daughter of Mr. and Mis. Hugh Noland. is representing the American Legion Auxiliary of YVaynesville this week at Girls' State in Greensboro. J." C. Haney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Haney, has been dis charged from the Army at Ft. Jackson, S. C. lie was in service 10 weeks. Pvt. Joe Ferguson, son id' Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Ferguson, has been assigned to switchboard work at Camp Gordon. Ga and Pvt. Frank Chambers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Chambers, was assigned to the Signal Corps. Mr. and Mrs. U.
