Home Demonstration Clubs, and
corresponding secretary of the
State Federation, presented the
state report on community activi
ties and accomplishments at the
Council Meeting on Thursday
morning.
Mrs. James Hyatt, craft leader
of the Canton Homemakers Club,
and Miss Phyllis Hartman. craft
leader of the Sauno9k Club, served
as instructor for the making of
copper planters and etching of cop
per trays in the Craft Class which
was taught by Craftsmen of West
ern North Carolina.
Participating in the State Chorus
were Mrs. J. F.dRar Burnette, Mrs.
Paul Robinson and Mrs. Frank
Ferguson.
Haywood County received a blue
ribbon for the Publicity Book
which was a collection of news
iterrs published on Home Demon
stration activities during the past
year.
Mrs. J Edgar Burnette, county
music chairman, was awarded one
of the 14 Cuyler Music Scholar
ships awarded to outstanding coun
ty music chairmen. This scholar
ship will entitle Mrs Burnette to
attend the Slate Music Camp
which will be held at Catawba Col
lege in Salisbury in July. The
scholarship is made possibc by Dr
Kenneth Cuvler of Durham who
established the Cuyler Music
foundation in 1953 as a stimulus
to the Music Program for Home

The members of the Crabtree
Missionary Society will hold an
all-day meeting Wednesday at the
home of Mrs. Monroe Noland The
meeting will begin at ten o'clock,
and a covered dish luncheon will

the Heck Jones Memorial of State
Missions.
