The bride, given in marriage by
her lather, wore a gown ot wnue

tapered sleeves. Her veil ot bridai
illusion was attached to a coronet
oi lace trimmed with pearls, and
she carried a white Bible topped
with a white, purple-threated, or
chid.
Miss Shirley Jones oi Canton
served as maid oi honor. She wore
a dress of peach organdy fashioned
with a moulded bodice and a full
skirt embroidered in white threads.
She wore a white hat, and carried a
bouquet of mixed summer flowers.
Miss Mary Lou Gates of Canton
was bridesmaid. Her gown of sun
yellow organdy and white hat were
identical in design to that of the
honor attendant. She also carried
mixed summer flowers.
Roy Smathers of WaynesviUe was
best man. Ushers were Carl Mc
Cracken, Jr., of WaynesviUe broth
er of the bridegroom, and Thomas
Wood of Canton, brother of the
bride.
Following the ceremony the cou
ple received the guests in the vesti
bule of the church, after which
they left for a wedding trip. For
traveling the bride wore a navy
blue linen dress with white acces
sories and the white orchid de
tached from her Bible. The couple
will reside in San Antonio, Tex.
Mrs. McCracken was graduated
from Canton High School and the
Pack Square Beauty School. Mr.
McCracken was graduated from
WaynesviUe Township High School,
and has served three years in the
U. S. Air Force.

In Ceremony
Three Waynesville Gray Ladies
were capped at special ceremonies
held Wednesday in Hendersonville.
They were Mrs. Felix Slovall. Mrs.
Joe Liner and Mrs. David Under
wood
These Gray Ladies, along with
around twelve others from Hender
sonville. Black Mountain and Ashe
vilte, recently completed a special
course making them eligible- for
work in veteran's hospitals.
The ceremony was held following
a picnic supper at the home of Mrs.
J. B. Edwards. The Waynesville
group received their caps and pins
from Mrs. David Hyatt, chairman of
'he local Red Cross chapter. Mrs.
Charles McDarris, executive secre
tary of Red Cross, also attended.
Mrs. Stovall. Mrs. Liner and Mrs.
Underwood will do volunteer work
at Oteen Hospital one day each
week.

ist, presented a program of wed-,
ding music.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a gown of impor
ted rosepoint lace over satin fash
ioned with a fitted bodices and a
bouffant skirt which extended into
a chapel length train. The long
sleeves ended in points over the
wrists. Her two tiered, fingertip
veil of illusion was attached to a
cap of rosepointe lace over satin
and trimmed with seed pearls, and
she carhied a white Bible topped
with a white orchid and satin
streamer^ Her only ornament was
a strand of cultured pearls, gift of
the bridegroom.
Mrs. James Mat his, cousin of the
bride, was matron of honor. She
wore a ballerina length dress of
blue niylon net over tafleta. design
ed with short sleeves, full skirt, and
a fitted bodice. She wore a match
ing bandeau of flowers and carried
a bouquet of mixed summer flow
ers.

Almond of Asheville, Miss Clara
Johnson of Bethel, both sisters of
the bride. Miss Norma Sue Burch
of Clyde, sister of the bridegroom,
and Miss Geraldine Laymon of
Bethel. Their dresses were of pas
tel tints of blue, green, and or
chid and were identical in design
to that of the matron of honor.
They carried bouquets of mixed
summer flowers.
Miss Doris Ann Johnson, sister
of the bride, and Miss Gail Inman
were junior attendants. Their dres
ses were pink and identical in
design to those of the other attend
ants. They also wore matching
bandeaux and carried bouquets of
mixed flowers.
Michael Burch, nephew of the
bridegroom, was ringbearer. Car
roll Burch, twin brother of the
bridegroom, served as best man.
