ALLEN & CO. a%e, hazelwooi) cl 6-1221 JStble Woxbti for I It has not been easy for me to make up my mini! to accept the challenge to cite a favorite Bible verse and tell why. Versification of scripture, 1 verily believe, was a device of the Devil to obscure the larger truth. However, there is undoubtedly great good to be done by encouraging readers to take even homeo pathic doses of Holy Writ. It may be good for what ails us all. Here is an idea whose time has come, in the words of Jesus: "Holy Father, keep them in Thy name which Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, even as we are one.'*(John 17: 11 RSV) t This plea to God by his Son is worthy, yes, com pelling of thought, because: 1. It issued from the heart of the True Head of the church. 2. It points up the basic condition on which that church may hope to succeed in its mission. 3. It reveals Jesus' resource for power?prayer. 4. It challenges current denominationalism, for "this eddying sectarianism diverts power from the central current of Christian effort. 5. The implementation of this single petition of our Lord would subdue a warring world and bring the dawo of peace. Dr. Neal' K. McGow an ?est Side Christian Church 1 San Franctecn, Calif. n iiC??i wti THIS HAZEL REALLY PACKED A WALLOP Not since we went into business back in 19C8 has our system suffered such wreckage. From deep into South Carolina, across the eastern half of North Carolina to the Virginia line, "Hazel" left a mass of destruction. No part of the area escaped. The damage you see about you has been as bad, or even worse, in approximately three-fourths of the 30,000 square miles of our service area. Thanks A Million! Through it all you have been wonderful. We thank you for your patient understanding. All 01 our own line crews, plus crews borrowed from our neighbors to the west in North Carolina, South arolina and Virginia have worked around-the ciock since the hurricane struck. Although we are doing everything we can, it will be several days yet before service to every body has been restored. Be assured that we will continue to do everything we can to make y?ur period of inconvenience as brief as possible. ?-A. (^CAROLINA POWER & LIGHT COMPANY)
