Didn't last week end seem odd wnnout the usual Frioay night fooioail game? but it won t be long unul our basael ball season win be started and again vie will be needed to cheer our team to victory. With Thanksgiving in the air. ! we at WTHS are once again prepar ing our annual gitt to the poor and needy of Haywood County. The Student Council urged each home- ! room and school oiganization to make up a Thanksgiving basket , filled with food. Wednesday morn- j ing the baskets were presented to the Welfare Department, who | will distribute the m to needy fam ilies In the county. The Safety Club held a meeting Monday morning and Jimmy How-I land, the president, appointed two committees. Jimmy appointed Peg gy Reeves, Patsy Jones and Bill Crawford as a social committee I They will be responsible for any social activities of the club throughout the year. He also ap pointed Florence Bowles, bill Prevost. Suzanne Curry, Marguer- j ite Huss and Tyker Miller as pub- j licity committee. They will be re sponsible for posters, radio pro- j grains and other forms of publicity ? I The Tally-Ho Club is sponsor ing a Thanksgiving Dance Thurs day night at the high school cafe- j teria. All the clubs and organiza-1 tions in school arc sponsoring a girl and out of these, a "Harvest Queen" will be picked. Those running for queen are Audrey Cowan, sponsored by the 4-11 Club, Palsy Jones, Tally-lfo Club, Peggy Reeves, Music Coun cil; Rita Kitchen. Safety Club, Joan Payne, Sub-Deb Club; Dody Prevost, Kry Club. Hetty Jo Shopc. Student Council, Kathryn Vlc Crackcn, l.ncal Yokel Stalf, Jackie Carswell, Annual Stalf; Shelby Da vis, Little Women's Club; Wilda Morns, 1 HA, and Patsy Winches ter, Monogram Club Votes for these girls are one penny and the campaign managers are doing a swell job ol campaign ing for these girls Let's all digest that turkey and come on up for the dance, .No admission will be charged and soft drinks and hot chocolate will be sold. Hut be sure to vote as you come in the door! The dance will last from 8 until 12 Congratulations are in store for1 Mrs Ron Lee Preesley, the former Miss Winnie Farmer, for the birth of twin -ons on November 20. Th.' hospital has really been on the ball this week: they have already de livered two sets of boys this week We also hope that Margaret Kins land. Kathryn Grasty, and Willie Mae Riddle recover front their ill nesses real soon. Let's not forttet the two foot bull ' games Turkev Dav.
