Of Study Course
Are Announced
Mrs. James W. Fowler. Jr., who
is directing a jurisdictional study
course for Methodist women of the
Haywood County Subdlstrlct, has
announced the program for the |
last two sessions of the course
which will be held tonight and
Thursday night.
The course is based on a sym
posium, ''Christianity and
Wealth." and is being held at Cen
tral Methodist Church in Clyde at
7:30 p.m.
Tonight's program will include
the following discussions; "The
Status of Women in Other Coun- I
tries," by Miss Louise Ballard;j
"Should We Support Cafes and
Grocery Stores That Sell Beer'"' j
by Mrs. Eldridge Caldwell, and
"Are American Women ? Good
Shoppers?" by Mrs. Rufus Siler.
Mrs. Grade Medford will lead the
devotions and Mrs. Kenneth |
Crouse and Mrs. H. B. Angel will :
review chapters in the study book. j
Miss Mary Moore will review the j
final chapter Thursday night and '
wilp exhibit imports and exports.'
Miss Jamison of Rockwood will
spMk on "Why Unemployment,"
and Mrs. Grady Rogers will discuss
the. retirement plans of Champion
Paper Co. Mrs. John Hogue of
Waynesville will discuss the retire
ment plans of Das-ton Rubber Com
pany and an original play, "Women.
Work?" will be presented by mem
bers of the Woman's Society of
Maple Grove Church.

meeting of the Dorcas Bell Love
Chapter, DAR, Friday afternoon in
the home of Mrs. R. L. Prevost.
Mrs. McMurray, who was intro
duced by Miss Catherine Colhoun.
spoke on the United Nations, us
ing as her subject, "America at the
Crossroads ? Freedom or Tyran
ny'.'" She discussed the dangers of ?
World Government, stating that
with World Government the con
stitution of the United States could
not protect this country and the
United States could .always be out
voted. She quoted Dr. Nelson Bell
as saying that everyone wants
peace but the righteous should
survive even with war.

Group Plans
New Project
A meeting of the International
Relations Group of the Waynes
viile Woman s Club was held
Thursday afternoon in the home of
miss Pearl Harris.
The group discussed plans for a
project to bring a German girl to
this country for the summer. The
girl under consideration is thirteen
years of age and has taken part in
the Passion Piay at Oberamroer
gau. She is making a study of the
English language and has been in
correspondence with Miss Ethel
McCoy. The plan calls for the Wo
man's Club group to finance her
passage to the United States and
Miss McCoy will have her at Camp
Junaluska for Girls for the sum
mer.
Following the discussion Miss
Ruth Harris, sister of the hostess,
who is on furlough from the Philip
pines where she serves as a Bap
tist Missionary, dirplayed hand
made linens, baskets, and native
costumes from the Philippine
Islands.

uary 16, 1905 with the Rev. A. S.
Lesley, father of the bride, offic
iating. They have been making
their home at Lake Junaiuska for
the past twenty years. Mr. John

Mutual Insurance Co.
The Johnsons have three chil
dren, R. N. Johnson, Jr., of South
America, the Rev. Joseph Johnspn
of High Point, and Miss Pearl
Lesley Johnson. They also have
four grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
