They are now on display at KURT (JAN'S, Jeweler Beaverdam Club Holds Workshop The Beaverdam Home Demons tration Club held an all-day meet ing Tuesday in the home of Mrs Tom Hipps with Mr?. Mark Swaim as co-hostess. The morning was devoted to a workshop on copper and aluminum planters. , At the afternoon meeting Mrs. .George Frady. president, presided during the business session at which time the club voted to pur chase a youth bed for the Ortho pedic Hospital in Asheville. A let ter of appreciation was read from , Miss Powell, superintendent of the Orthopedic Hospital, fur the food and clothing presented by the club on its visit to the hospital in Janu ary. Plans were made to hold a bake sale in Canton during February, proceeds or which will go to the purchase of the youth bod. The demonstration was on "Plan ning and Planting the Home Gar den". County Home Club Council Plans Program For 1955* The Haywood County Council of Home Demonstration Clubs met Monday morning in the courtroot .. Mrs. L. .1. Cannon, a member ol the McKimmon Club and president of the Council, presided. Seventy two officers from twenty-three clubs were present. Plans for the years activities include a concerted effort to reach more homemakers during the year through a club leadership program. Following a discussion period the Council voted to sponsor a tour to the Azalea Gardens at Charleston. South Carolina in observance ol National H o m e Demonstration Week. The executive board will serve as a steering committee for these plans. The Council will sponsor a tour of home demonstration homes as a spring activity. Announcements were made con cerning the historian's serapbook contest which will be held again this year. A vegetable school will be held on February 24. at 9:30 in the courtroom. A music leaders school will be held in the county on March 16 and a lampshade demonstration will be held in April. Farm and Home Week will be held at State College June 20 23.
