The park has rose-lined walks, tree-lined drives. a profusion of shrubs?especially axaleas?a small zoo. and an aviary. More famous still are Magno lia, Middleton. and Cypress Gardens outside the seaport city. Ricketson, Formerly Of Canton, Promoted By Champion Paper Ralph M. Ricketson, formerly with the Carolina Division of The Champion Paper and Fibre Co. at Canton, had been named to new responsibilities in the firm's Gen eral Office at Hamilton, Ohio. The announcement is made by Vice President Dwight J. Thomson, the company's director of industrial and public relations. In his new appointment, Mr. Ricketson becomes coordinator of wage and salary administration, af ' - - . ! Lower Crabtree CDP Reorganizes, Elects Officers By MRS. MILLARD FERGUSON ronuntui{ty Reporter The Community Development Program group of Lower Crabtree met last Wednesday night at the Crabtree-Iron Duff school and re organized with the following offi cers: chairman, Rev. A. R. Davis; vice chairman. Carlisle Davis; sec retary, Mrs. Eugene Wood; treas urer, Elmer Gillett. and reporter, Mrs. Millard Ferguson. These officers will meet Satur day evening, March 26. at 7:30 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wood and name committees for the year's projects. The group plan to meet the third Wednesday night of each month at the community cen ter at Riverside. "7 The regular meeting of the Crab tree-iron Duff school PTA was held last Friday night at the school. Ray Milner presided and Mrs. W. E. Martin of the Health Depart ment was the principal speaker. The FFA boys of Crabtree-Iron ter serving the past two years as an assistane in the company's general wage and salary admini stration program. Previously, he was with the Carolina Division as supervisor ^of wage analysis, a post he filled for eight years. In his new capacity, Mr. Ricket son will be principally involved in a study of analysis of the com pany's wage and salary structures and the coordination of policies and procedures. He will have add ed duties as coordinator of the re cently, announced company-wide profit "sharing plan as concerned with General Office personnel^ Majoring in economics at Mercer University, Mr. Hicketson has held posts with the Llbray of Congress, the U. S. Wage and Hour Division of the Dept. of Labor, and the U. S. War Labor Board. He started with the company's Carolina Di vision in 1944. Deadline Set On HDC Tour Reservations The deadline for reservations for the special Home Demonstration Club tour to .Charleston, S. C. March 31 - April 2, is at noon this Saturday. All reservations must be in the county home agent's office in the courthouse at that time, accom panied by a $10 deposit. Total cost of the tour is' $30 ? which in cludes transportation, hotel room, seven meals, and tickets into gar dens and historical spots In the Charleston area. Sponsored by the Home Dem onstration Council, the tour will take the Haywood women to the world-famous Cypress, Magnolia, and Middleton gardens, to four famous Charleston homes, and for a tour of the tradition-rich coastal city. While in Charleston, the group will stay in the St. John's Hotel. Miss Mary Corn well, home dem onstration agent, said that if the full quota is reached, two busloads Duff School held their annual Father-Son banquet on Tuesday night in the school dining room. B. F. Nesbitt is sponsor and Rev. Jackson Huneycutt was the guest speaker. I The junior class of Crabtree Iron Duff School, under the,direc tion of Mrs. Frank Kirkpatrick, will present the junior play "Miss Min erva and William GreenhiU" on Friday night, March 25, at 7 p.m. The Crabtree - Hyder Mountain HDC met last Friday afternoon in the dining room*of the Crabtree Methodist Church wtih Mrs. Hugh Noland and Mrs. L. O. Ferguson as hostesses. The next meeting will be at Fincher's Chapel in Aphll. Clarence M. Pope, who has been on 2Q^day leave with his wife and infant daughter, has returned to his ship, U.S.S. Intrepid at Nor folk, Va, Pfc. Lowery Ferguson, Jr. has re turned to Korea after completing a six-weeks course of study at the Far East Specialist School, Gamp Eta Jiina, Japan. Mrs. A. R. Davis and son Rich ard left last week for Hayesville for an extended visit with her mother, Mrs. Richard Beale, who is ill. Mr. and Mrs. H. H.
