The officers chosen will be in stalled at a ladies night program in April. Present officers of the Jaycees are: Jim Milner, president; Elmer Hendrix, first vice president; Wil lis Beck, second vice president; Dwight Beaty, secretary; Buddy Parris, treasurer, and John Carver, state director. The Federal Civil Defense Ad ministration today reported that eight states and 24 cities have an nounced plans or programs for providing identification tags for civilian populations. The announcement followed an earlier appeal by FCDA admini strator, Val Peterson, calling on local officials to support a nation wide tagging program as part of the intensified effort to meet the greatly increased Civil Defense problem resulting from new know ledge of the threat of radioactive fall-out in Atomic or H-bomb at tack. Under the Civil Defense law, responsibility for the tagging pro gram rests with the states and local governments. FCDA can only advise. In its announcement, the agency listed the following states as having tagging programs plan ned or under way:*? Illinois, In diana, West Virginia, Colorado (tentative), Oregon, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and Missouri (tentative). The following cities reported programs in operation: ? Miami Houston, Washington, D. C? Dul uth, Cleveland, Burkank, Calif. San Francisco, New York, Mil waukee, Detroit, Chester, Pa., Lansdowne,' Pa., Memphis, St. Petersburg, New Roehelle, N. Y., Atlanta. Montgomery, Ala., Spo kane, Birmingham, New Orleans. Indianapolis, Das Vegas, Rock Is land, 111., and Seward, Alaska. FCDA said that states and local governments are not required to report the status of their tagging programs to the federal. govern ' ment. This means that states with j newly-conceived plans and cities which have not reDorted their programs are not included in the ' listing.
