James Norwood Swift, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Faurette Swift of Weynesvllle, in a cere mony at the Wavnesville Presby terian Church Friday. June 17 at 8 p.m. The Rev. Malcolm Williamson, former pastor, of the church, pro nounced the vows. A program of traditional musk was presented by Stanford Massie, organist, and Mrs. James L. Kil patrick. soloist. Mr. Massie played excerpts from "Messe Basse," by Vierhe and from "Suite 0?tl>i<iut'." by Baelimann, "To A Wild Rose," hy McDowell. Prelude to Act 111 from "Lohengrin" and "Andan tino," by Lemurs. Mrs. Kilpatrick sang "Until" bv Sanderson and "At Dawning," by Cadman prior to the ceremony and <"A Wedding Prayer," hy Durtlap as a benedic-1 tlon. * The altar was decorated with palms and ferns Interspersed with floor vases of white giadjofi_ and white larkspur, and seven-branch ed candelabra. The bride was given irr marri- , age by her father. Her gown' was of white slipper satin fashioned with molded bodice, short sleeves. and a v-neckllne which was out lined with a wit^e band of Alencon lace The full skirt extended into a chapel train. She wore long white gloves and her veil, which fell beyond the train, was attached to a Juliet cap of satin and Alen con lace. She wore a single strand of pearls, a gift of the bridegroom, and carried her grandmother's prayer book which was showered with gardenias, stephanolis, and ivy. Mrs. John Bremer of Calumbus, Georgia, former college niwimialc of the bride, was matron of honor and Miss Joan Prevost, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Binney Putnam of Fort Pierce, Florida, a former college classmate of the bride, and Miss Laura Woody and Misa Linda Sloan, both of Waynes ville. The attendants were gowned a like In full length dresses of soft yellow nylon chiffon over taffeta. The draped bodices were smocked with pearls and the full skirts were worn over hoops. They wore short white gloves and carried crescent shaped bouquets of blue delphin ium. yellow roses, baby s breath, and Ivy. Robin McDonald, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. K. McDonald of Larned. Kansas, and nephew of the bride groom, was ringbearer. William F. Swift, Jr. served as best man for his brother. Ushers were Ralph Prevost, III, brother of the bride. William F. Finley. Jr., of Valdosta, Ga., William A. DupiT of Rome. Ga., and .William M. Webster of Greenville, S. C? all fraternity brothers of the bridegroom, and Robert E. Massic and Jeff Reece. of Waynesvllle. Immediately following the cere mony the parents of the bride en tertained with a reception in their home. Mrs. prevost, mother of the bride, ware a full length gown of champagne rose lace fashioned with a lace bodice and full skirt of nylon tulle. Her corsage was of talisman roses. Mrs. Swift, mother of the bridegroom, wore a gown of ashes of roses lace and chiffon and her corsage was a lavender orchid. Assisting in receiving were Mr. and Mrs. Oan Watkins, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Barber, Jr., Mrs. T. G. Boyd. Miss Nancy Kiliian, Mr and Mrs. Frank Worthington, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Reece, Mr. and Mr?. Hallett Ward, Dr. and Mrs. R. S. Roberson, Mr. and Mrs. Wil liam Prevost. Mr. and Mrs. Whlte ner Prevost, Mr. and Mrs. Jona than Woody. Mr. and MTs. Ben Sloan. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Prevoat. The dining room table was cent ered with a tiered wedding cake and garlands of similax fell from the chandelier to arrangements of gardenias at the four corners. Ar rangements of white flowers and greenery were used throughout lite home. Following the reception the bridal couple left for a wedding trip. For traveling the bride wore a navy cotton tweed suit with white linen trim. Her accessories were navy and her corsage was of gardenias from her prayer book. MRS. JAMES NORWOOD SWIFT Is the former Miss Dorothy l.ane Prevost, dauchtrr of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lee Prevost. Her wedding was held Friday evening in the Waynemrflle Presbyterian Church. * Mrs. Swift is a graduate of Way nesville High School and Stephens College, Colombia, Missouri. She were presented at the Debutante Ball in- Raleigh in the fall of 1953. Lt. Swift also attended the Way nesville schools and was graduated last week from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He also received his commission last week at Georgia Tech as a lieutenant in the Marine Corps. After July 1, the couple will make their home in Quantica, Ya w-here Lt. Swift wil be stationed. Sr. of Canton will observe their fiftieth wedding anniversary Tues day, June 21. Mr. and Mrs. Vetoe' were married at McBee, South Carolina in 1905 by the Rev. W. ; P. Whitsell, who is now living in Little Rock, Arkansas. Mrs. Vetoe is the former Carolina Clarke Rob ertson of Winnsboro. South Caro lina. and Mr. Vetoe is a native of Dav!dson River. They have made their home in Canton during the past thirty-eight years. Until his retirement three years ago, Mr. Vetoe was employed by the Cham pion Paper and Fibre Company.
