MY5TERY Of THE BURROWING HOSE SUSAN Di Peso, of Downey, Calif., and a friend, Irene Franco, under the supervision of Jimmy Jackson, try to pull out of the ground a section of a 50-foot garden hose which has burrowed 17 feet into the Di Peso front lawn without an explanation. Mr. Di Peso, 38, first tried pulling the hose out by hand but was unsuccessful. Then he tied it to his car bumper and pulled until the hose snapped 19 feet from the car. The section in the ground kept going deeper.
