J _____ Enrollment At WCC Will Be Hecoid With Over 1,000 Western Carolina College is pre paring for the greatest year in its 66-year history, according to Paul A. Reid, President. Reid said that as of this date, all available rooms have been assigned In the boys' and girls' dormitories, and that waiting lists exist for ail dormitories. Based on new ap plications, paid room reservations, ind new and former day students who plan to enroll, the fall term enrollment is expected to exceed one thousand of undergraduate students. The graduate students will add many to this number. Dean W. E. In line with expanded enroll ment, President Reid mentioned other improvements being made at the college, the outstanding one being renovation of Robertson Hall. Robertson, a boys' dormitory con-! structed in 1930, now contains fac ulty apartments in addition lo students' rooms. During this summer, Robertson Hall has undergone a complete face-lifting, including painting of the interior, refinishing of floors, all needed repairs, and replace ment of furniture, which makes Robertson one of the most up-to date dormitories on the campus. Care of the campus is another aspect of the improvements being made. Because of construction now in progress, many of the roads and drives have been broken. Plans are now being made to resurface all roads on the campus, and have them in excellent condition prior to the opening of the fail term. Re-lighting installations were re cently completed, so that adequate street lighting is now available for the entire campus. Retaining walls have been repaired where necar Moose Will Pick Up Clothes For Clothes Closet A desperate call for good used clothing was issued by the Royal Order of the Moose today, as they sought garments that could re plenish the supply of the local Clothes Closet. Johnny Marcus, chairman of the civic affairs committee, said that the needs were great, and that ar rangements had been made where by members of the Moose would pick up clothing from any home. The Moose have set up a tele phone and any call to this phone will mean that a man will come by within a short time and pick up the garments and take them to the Clothes Closet. The number is GL 6-8610. No clothes are distributed to the deserving by the Moose. All are given through the Clothes Closet personnel. sary, new ones built, and bare spaces covered with vines and shrubbery for added beauty. Actual construction of new buildings will not be completed for some time yet, Reid said. However, construction is well under way on a new $600,000 gymnasium, as well as a sewage treatment and disposal plant. President Reid explained that all this work is being done in an ef fort to meet the needs of an ex panded student body, and to pro vide the best possible service for the students. ?? 1?I-1 HURRICANE WAVES LASH NORTH CARO LINA COAST?High waves whipped up by Hur ricane Connie pound against the sea wall at At lantic Beach near Morehead City, but they don't seem to frighten these girls on vacation.
