Margaret Ellen Rogers Weds John Albert Emory Miss Margaret Ellen Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emory Wayne Rogers of Lake Junaluska, became the bride of John Albert Emory, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Austin Emory of Ashevflle, in Memorial Chapel at Lake Juna luska, Saturday, August 27, at 4 p m. The Rev. T. E. Robinett, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville, performed the cere mony. A program of music was pre sented by Miss Florrie Patrick, or ganist; Miss Patricia Robinson of Mars Hill, violinist; and Mrs. Jack Kloppof Lake Junaluska. vocalist. The altar was decorated with floor vases of white chrysanthe mums and branched candelabra a cainst a background of palms. The bride was given in marriage Ly her father. She wore a gown of white embroidered organdy, fashioned with molded bodice and tiered bouffant skirt, which^ ex tend into a chapel train. The sweetheart neck was outlined with scallops, as were the tiers of the skirt, and she wore matching full kngth mitts. Her fingertip veil of illusion fell from a half-shell of embroidered organdy trinjmed with ruching and seed pearls and she carried a white Bible with a cascading bouquet of white orchids and lilies of the valley. She wore a pearl necklace, a gift of the bridegroom. Miss Doris Ann Ensley of Lake Junaluska, cousin of the bride, was maid of honOr. Her dress was of ice green crystalette and net, de signed with fitted bodice and bouffant skirt with a bow in thr back. She wore a matching picture < hat and carried an arm bouquet of < yellow roses. ' Joe Emory of Ashevllle served as best man for his brother and j ushers were Robert M. Allen, Jr., f of Winston Salem, Herbert Wll- j liams of Maxton, Bill Bocook of ( Asheville, all schoolmates of the bridegroom, and George Robert ] Currence of Gastonia, cousin of the bridegroom. Following the ceremony the par ents of the bride entertanied with ] a reception at Lambuth Inn, Lake I Junaluska. 1 Mrs. Rogers, mother of the 1 bride, wore a floor length gown of dusty rose lace over taffeta and her corsage was a purple orchid. The mother of the bridegroom wore a full length dress of tur quoise lace over taffeta and her corsage was also a purple orchid. Assisting were Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Ensley, Mrs. Ned Tucker, Mrs. Richard Bradley, Mrs. Harry Mr Cracken, Mrs. Silas Carver, Mrs. Hugh Rogers, and Mrs. Max Rog ers. After the reception the couple kft for a wedding trip. For travel ing the bride wore a white suit ac cented with a dusty rose blouse and 'matching accessories. Her corsage was the orchid from her wedding bouquet. Upon their re tjrn the couple will make their home in Raleigh where Mr. Emory is a student at North Carolina State College. Mrs. Emory attended Montreat Preparatory School for Girls and was graduated from Waynesville Township High School and Mars Hill College where she was a mem ber of the Clio Literary Society. Mr. Emory was graduated from Lee Edwards High School, Ashe ville and Mars Hill College, where he was a member of the Philo mathiam Literary Society. ? ? ? Mrs. Creasman Has Party For Brother Mrs. Hubert Creasman of Hazel wood entertained her brother, Paul Mintz, with a surprise birth day party Saturday night at the home of the latter in Canton. R. Gephart of the Carolina Garden Store in Asheville was the speaker at a regular luncheon meeting of the Richland Garden Club Thursday afternoon in the home of Mrs. W. G. Tassell on Chestnut Park Drive. His subject was Fall Planting. Miss Nancy Klllian and Mrs. W L. Kirkpatrick were in charge of the program and Miss Klllian in troduced Mr. Gephart. Elizabeth Ensley Completes Her Wedding Plans Miss Nancy Elizabeth Ensley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Ensley of Clyde, has completed plans for her wedding to David Marr Illingworth of Raleigh, son of the late Mr .and Mrs. G. Illing worth of Grantown-on-Spey, Mo rayshire, Scotland. The ceremony will be performed September 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the Clyde Baptist Church. The Rev. D. D. Gross of Marshall will officiate, assisted by the Rev. J. G. Goodwin of Clyde. A program of music will be pre sented by Miss Margaret Ensley of Asheville, vocalist, and Miss Janice Smathers of Clyde, organist. The bride will be given in mar riage by her father. Miss Mary Ensley will serve as her sister's maid of honor. Empson-Alley Wedding Is Held In Boyd Chapel Announcement Is made of the marriage of Mrs. Edith Purcell Al ii y of Waynesville and A. Holmes Empson, Sr., of Neosho, Missouri. The ceremony took place Satur day afternoon, August 27, at 4 o'clock in the Boyd Memorial Chapel of the First Methodist Church. Members of the families and close friends attended. The Rev. Earl H. Brendall, pas tor of the church, pronounced the vows and a program of music was presented by Thomas C. Davis, soioist, and Miss Bette Hannah, pianist. Mr. Davis sang "I Love Triee," and The Lord's Prayer. Arrangements of white chrysan themums and gladioli wiih palms decorated the altar. The bride wore a periwinkle blue afternoon dress of pure silk with a matching jacket and hat in the same shade. Her corsage was of white orchids. An informal reception was held at the home of the bride after which the couple left for a wed <dmg trip in the mid-west. Mr. and Mrs. Empson will make their home in Waynesville. Mrs. Empson is employed by the North Carolina National Park, Parkway and Forests Development Commission in charge of the head quarters office at Waynesville. For n.any years she has been active in state, regional and local orgniza t:ons and is a past president of the North Carolina Congress of Par ents and Teachers. Mr. Empson has been engaged in the lotel business in Southwest Missouri and Oklahoma for the past several years. Prior to this he was with the Southwestern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Com pany, serving as division traffic superintendent with headquarters at Tulsa, Oklahoma. * ? ? Mrs. Paul Robinson, who spent last week in Chicago as a delegate to the National Home Demonstra tion Council, stopped in Chapel Hill en route to her home in Clyde and visited her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Sehlagel. She was joined in Chapel Hill by her husband and they were accompanied home by their granddaughter, Elizabeth Schlagel, who will attend school in Clyde.
