SALLIE CALDWELL Mrs. Sallie MeAbee Caldwell, 66, of Waynesville died about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday In the hospital here afteh a long Illness. She was a native of Buncombe County and had lived in Haywood County the last 60 years. Funeral services were held today at 10 a.m. at the Smathers Street Church of God in Waynesville. Burial was in the Flint Hill Cemetery near Marshall. The Rev. Don E. Conrad officiat ed. Surviving are the husband, George Caldwell; three sons, Car.oy and Hayden of Waynesville, and Les of Buncombe County; a broth er, Laddie MeAbee of Buncombe County; and 22 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Herschel Price, Marshall Conrad. Howard Christo pher, Marion Black, Frank Gray and Joe Moore, Jr. Mrs. Schorle Is Victim Of Car, Train Accident Mrs. Jonell Rogers Schorle, 23, of Newport News, Va., formerly of Waynesville, was killed Saturday when her automobile was struck by a train at Rittman, Ohio. Funeral services were held yes terday afternoon in the First Methodist Church here with the Rev. Don Payne, pastor of Long's Chapel church officiating. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ruel Noland, Noel Fisher, Ben Fisher, Jay Dow dle, Marshall Leatherwood and Lyle Noland. Mrs. Schorle was the daughter of Mrs. Harrison Rogers and the late Mr .Rogers of the Fines Creek section. She was graduated from the Waynesville High School. She had been making her home in Ne\rf* port News since last November and was a member Of the Chestnut Avenue Methodist Church there. Mrs. Schorle and her husband. Eugene Schorle, had gone to Ritt man to spend the weekend with Schorle's mother. Surviving in addition to the hus band and the mother, are one daughter. Darlee Jean, and one son, Steven Wayne; five sisters, Mrs. Ernest Suttles of Asheville, Mrs. A. C. Beasley. Mrs. Russell P. Laws, Mrs. Ted F. Franks, and Mrs. E. J. Bachelor of Newport News; five brothers. Farmer and Doyce Rog ers of Waynesville, Verlin and Eugene Rogers of Asheville, and Oliver C .Rogers of Newport News. Arrangements were under the direction of Crawford Funeral Hnmp Frequent Summer Visitor Taken By Death In Tampa Joseph Strake Mims, 71. retired president and publisher of the Tampa Morning Tribune, died of a heart attack last Friday. Mr. Mims was a frequent sum mer visitor here for many years, ahd was well known in this part of Western North Carolina. Mims. a native of Bartow, Fla., was stricken while attending a University of Tampa board of trustees meeting, and died en route to a hospital. Survivors include his wife and a daughter, Mrs. Paul Hace. Heart Attack Is Fatal To I H. F. Pressley I Herbert Franklin Pressley, 66, I died unexpectedly at his home in I Clyde this morning at 7 o'clock. I Death was attributed to a heart I attack. Pressley was a native and life- I long resident of Haywood County. 11 He was a retired employe of Cham- I pion Paper and Fibre Company I and was a member of the Cham- I pion Old Timers' Club and the I Knights of Pythias. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. I Georgia Dotson Pressley; six sons, I Harold G., Neil and Cecil Pressley I of Canton; Horace Pressley of the I i U. S. Army, stationed at Fort I Bragg, Lucius Pressley of the Air I j Force, stationed in Germany, and I I J. R. Pressley of Waynesville; two I daughters, Mrs. Joyce Parker of I Waynesville and Miss Judy Press- I ley of the home; Ave grandchild- I ten; two brothers, H. L.
