MILLARD FERGUSON Community Reporter The homecoming at Riverside last Sunday was an enjoyable oc caslon. Old frienda from three atatei met and revived old memories and renewed old acquaintances. Plans are to have another next year. The membership revival con ducted last week at the Crabtree Baptist Church by the Rev. Mr. Bray of Shelby, had a successful week and closed last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Noland en tertained with a supper at their home last Friday night. Those in attendance were: The pastor, Rev. Doyle Miller and Mrs. Miller, the visiting minister, Rev. Mr. Bray, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Haiiey, Mr. and Mrs. Clingman Beck, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Allen. Sen ator George Smathers (D-Fla) criti cized the Eisenhower administra tion and Agriculture Secretary Ez ra Taft Benson for not being "suf ficiently concerned" with the economic plight of the nation's farmers. "The farmers' plight is the num ber one problem in the nation. It ? has to be solved early next year, or we're in. bad shape," Smathers said in an interview. Smathers said the Republican administration cannot be blamed entirely for the drop in farm in come. "but I don't think Agricul ture Secretary Benson or the ad ministration have been sufficiently concerned with finding a solution to the problem."
