UNC School Of Nursing Gets Special Recognition By CLIFTON METCALF (Special To The Mountaineer) l CHAPEL HILL?The University Cf North Carolina School of Nurs- i ing has been approved for full ac creditation by the Accrediting 1 Services of the National League for Nursing. This is the first school of nursing in North Carolina to be accredited by this organization, which is the highest board of nurs ing in the II, S. The approval of the four year undergraduate program leading to a B. S. degree in nursing includes thfe preparation of students for be ginning Public Health Nursing po sitions. v This honor is given a school of nursing on the basis of an evalu ation by the Accerdlting Service on standards set by the league. School of Nursing Dpan- Eliza beth L. Kemble and three faculty members went to New York foi the meeting of the league at which the accreditation was approved. The school was among fifteen in the state that received temporary accreditation for a five-year period ending in 1957. Campbell was elected president of the. newly organized Haywood County Humane Society at a meeting at the courthouse Monday night. Harry Lee Liner was chosen vice president and Mrs. H. E. Chase secretary-treasurer. Among projects discussed at the meeting were: 1. Attempting to find homes for animals picked up by the county dog warden. 2. Selection of a suitable site for a county animal shelter. 3. Feeding any .cattle and horses left in pastures during the winter who face starvation when snow falls. 4. The prevention of killing of cattle and sheep by dogs. 5. A new system of identifying dogs by tattooing one ear. At an organizational meeting last week, members voted to apply to the state for a charter of incorporation, with the following temporary in corporators; Mrs. CampWll, Mr. Christmas Lights In Hazelwood Turned On The Hazelwood Christmas lights were turned on Wednesday night.
