Nursing. This is the first school
of nursing in North Carolina to be
accredited by this organization,
which is the highest board of nurs
ing in the II, S.
The approval of the four year
undergraduate program leading to
a B. S. degree in nursing includes

accreditation for a five-year period
ending in 1957.

million to more than 165 million.

Humane Society Names

Mrs. R. R. Campbell was elected
president of the. newly organized
Haywood County Humane Society
at a meeting at the courthouse
Monday night.
Harry Lee Liner was chosen
vice president and Mrs. H. E. Chase
secretary-treasurer.
Among projects discussed at the
meeting were:
1. Attempting to find homes for
animals picked up by the county
dog warden.
2. Selection of a suitable site
for a county animal shelter.
3. Feeding any .cattle and
horses left in pastures during the
winter who face starvation when
snow falls.
4. The prevention of killing of
cattle and sheep by dogs.
5. A new system of identifying
dogs by tattooing one ear. At an
organizational meeting last week,
members voted to apply to the
state for a charter of incorporation,
with the following temporary in
corporators; Mrs. CampWll, Mr.
Christmas Lights In
Hazelwood Turned On
The Hazelwood Christmas lights
were turned on Wednesday night.
The colored lights are strung across
the streets for several blocks.

plement the lights for next season.
