C? as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Her bert Plott, Jr. The residents of Maggie Valley who operate tourist businesses, have been busy for the last few weeks fixing up and painting up their places and looking forward to another good season this year. The Haywood Baptist Associa tion held a meeting Monday night at the Olivet Baptist Church. The meeting was for the benefit of the Sunday Schools. There were two members from each church in the ' Association present. The meeting | was under the direction of As- , sociational Missionary Elmer , Green. Mrs. Allen Ball, who has been ' 111 at her home for the last few ! weeks, has been going to Asheville for treatment. Amos Rich is a patient at the Mission Hospital in Asheville 1 where he underwent an operation 1 last week. The Rev. Lawrence Parker fill- i ed the pulpit of the Olivet Baptist Church Sunday night. 4-H Club Council Meets Saturday At REA Building The Haywood 4-H Club county council will hold its April meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at the REA building, with president Bernard Ferguson of Finos Creek In charge. At the meeting, the annual 4-H ^peaking contest will be held, and plans will be made for National 4-H Club Sunday in May. The Clyde Senior 4-H Club will be host at the county council meet ing, and will serve refreshments. ; i From 1930 to 1953, U. Barbara Griffith and Ddrothy Grasty Last Friday night everyone en joyed the band concert given in the WTHS auditorium under the direction of Charles Islcy and Rob-, ert Campbell. All of the music de partment contributed to the enter tainment. The junior band, orches tra, chorus, and the senior band all presented a wonderful program, rhe band played the music tipt they will perform in the contest this week in Greensboro. By the way all the members of the band are really getting excited about their trip. They left today and will return Sunday. The very best of tuck to you! Well, yesterday was the day! All WTHS students received their re port carls. Just think, there is only pne more six-weeks period, just one more time to get our report cards and then graduation and school is out. The student body at WTHS heard an interesting report from some members of the Electronics De partment in chapel. The instructor, Y. F. Burgess, and four of his stu dents, Richard Cagle, Jimmy Mann, Tom Garrett, and Freddie Norris gave reports on different phases and opportunities of electronics. I am sure we all agree that this is a most interesting career for boys who are interested. Several members of our student body participated in the county F.H.A. rally. Myrtle ? Fitzgerald, Barbara Ratcliff and Patsy Leathfer wood were in a skit entitled "Pag ing Mrs. Dollar". Betty Jo Cal houn, Peggy Da\ is and Susie Clark also attended the rally. Susie Clark was installed as the new county secretary. Mrs. Nesbitt, Home Economics teacher at WTHS, also attended. Tuesday in chapel Miss Mozeley's 8th grade ono agair furnished the onfopfainmnnt A nlatr />o1IaH "A I Ghost of the Past" was presented. Members of the cast were Stuart Gibson. Dwight Green, Kenneth Stahl, Bruce Alexander, and Paul Davis. A chorus consisted of Bob Evans. Phillip Chase, Tom Colter, Tom Carver, Tom Walker, Eddie Morgan. Harold Garwood, Harry Liner and Paul Green sang several numbers. Also presented was "Bor rowing Neighbors" by a cast includ ing Greta Birchfleld, Phyllis Leop ard. Martha Boyd, Brenda Nichols, and Betty Ruth Atkins. Rick Mc Carroll was master of ceremonies. Both plays were enjoyed very much. We would like to congratulate Miss Leona Davis, a freshman at WTHS, for winning first place in the high school division in the annual Haywood County spelling bee. Presbyterian Men To Hold Rally On April 22 The Rev. Warren F. Thurston, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church. Hendersonville, will be the principal speaker at a rally of Presbyterian men from church es in Haywood and Buncombe counties, to be held at the Mal vern Hills Presbyterian Church, Ashevllle, on Sunday, April 22, beginning at 3 p.m., according to Dr. Quinn Constantz, of Cullo whee, president of the Men of Asheville Presbytery. The meeting is under the di rection of Robert F. Clodfelter, of the Asheville First church, serv ing as vice-president of the Men of the Presbytery of his area, and he is urging all men from church es of this denomination in his area to come and bring their wives, in recognition of the special empha sis in 1956 on "The Christian Family" throughout the demoni nation.
