Aliens Creek Personal Items By CHARLIE H. DUCKETT Community Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Grasty of upper Aliens Creek are building a new home. Oliver Early is remodeling his house, located on the Aliens Creek Road. Julius Rogers is adding a new front porch to his house. Swan Hendrix is building an a partment house near the Aliens Creek intersection. Sgt. Arthur Pace and Mrs. Pace have been visiting Mr. anil Mrs. Kern Chambers. The Paces have recently returned from Germany and are now on their way to southern California, where Sgt. Pace will be stationed. Friends of Mrs. Mary Bumgarn er will be sorry to learn she has gone back to the hospital. Mrs. Charlie Duckett entertain- ? ed Saturday night with a birthday party for her daughter Charlene. Forty-four guests were present. "Mrs. Duckett was assisted in serv ing by the Misses Doris Muse and Nancy Leatherwood. Mrs. Luther Allen is visiting in Asheville this week. Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Caldwell and their family spent Sunday with relatives in Old Fort. Mrs. Harrison Rogers of Ashe ville is visiting her son, Farmer Rogers. Mrs. Kem Chambers has been visiting relatives in Greer, S. C. North Dakota's lignite mines pro duce about three million tons a year. THE REV. F. R. DAVIS of Mooresville will be guest speak er at revival services at Mt. Zion Methodist Church April 26-May 6. Jle will speak each evening at 8 o'clock, as well as at the 11 o'clock service Sunday morning. Mr. Davis is the father of the minister of the church, the Rev. A. R. Davis. Elmer Green, Baptist Associational Missionary, began revival services last Sunday even ing at the Crabtree Baptist Church, which will continue 10 lays, beginning each evening at 7:30. ' The Crabtree Methodist WSCS have elected officers for the cur rent year as follows: president, Mrs. John Kirkpatrick; vice presi dent, Mrs. Hugh Noland; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. B. F. Nesbitt; promotion, Mrs. Joe Palmer, mis sionary education, Mrs.' Mary Pope; Christian social relations, Mrs. Millard Ferguson; student work, Mrs. James Kirkpatrick; spiritual life, Mrs. L. O. Ferguson; literature and publication, Mrs. Fred Safford, status of women, Mrs. Carl Ferguson; children's work, Mrs. Glenn Palmer; youth work, Mrs. > Joe Smart, supply work, Mrs. A. R. Davis. W. J. McCrary of Finchers Chap el and Frank Davis of Davis Chap el, accompanied the Rev. A. R. David to Murphy last Thursday to attend the district conference. Mrs. F. R. Davis of Mooresville, arrived last Sunday to visit her son, the Rev. A. R. Davis, and Mrs. Davis, and her new grandson, Rolan Revere. She will be joined on Wednesday by her husband, the Rev. F. R- Davis who will assist his son in revival services beginning during the weekend at Mt. Zion Church. Miss R. A. Gillett and Mrs. Wiley McClure have returned to their homes from the Haywood County Hospital. Martha Ann Caldwell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnie Caldwell of Canton, and senior at Crabtree Iron Duff school was married last Friday to Richard Messer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Messer of Waynesville. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Williams have moved from Madison County to the Otholo Jones home in the Hyder Mountain area. Mrs. Bessie Robinson, who has been on an extended visit with relatives in Greenville, S. C? and Marietta. Ga., returned to her home last week. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Holt had as guests for several days last week. Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Jones of Columbus. Ohio. They now have as house guests for ten days, Mr. and Mrsi James K. Ryan of Al hambra, Calif. Way Messer, who came for the funeral of his sister, Mrs. Tom Hutehins of Canton, will return to his home in Anaconda, Mont., this week. Mrs. Thomas Noland and her daughter, Phyllis, accompanied Mrs. Noland's Mother, Mrs. Dave Partin, to Panama City, Fla., last week to visit Mrs. Partin's son-in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hightower. Mrs. Harry Noland, who accom panied Mrs. Dorthca Lee Haney of Waynesville to Daytona Beach, Fla., on vacation, returned home last Friday. Mark Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Brown, who recently was accepted by the Navy, return ed last Saturday from Great Lakes, Illinois with a medical discharge. Kenneth Parks of High Point is spending a week's vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parks. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cockrell spent the weekend in Atlanta with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Jones. Most farmers have their cattle on the mountain ranges As yet there is very little grass there, but even less feed at the home base. Spring farming is badly behind schedule and farmers are begin ning to sweat, but not from toil and the heat of the sun. About one U. S. worker in seven works in motor transport or high way jobs. ^ ? He volunteered for service in the Navy Air Force in June, 1955 and received basic training at Great Lakes, III. Rev. Martin Nazarene Church Revival Speaker Revival services will begin at the Sunday morning worship serv ice at 11 o'clock at the Church of the Nazarene here. The Rev. Samuel Martin of High Point will be the evangelist. Rev. Martin has held successful pastorates in Texas, Alabama and North Carolina. He also has had outstanding success in the field of evangelism having served in 28 states aid also Canada, Mexico j and Italy. He is a graduate ofj Trevecca. College of Nashville, | Tenn. Mrs. Ruby Dryman and Miss Ruth Plemmons of Asheville and Mrs. Melva Evans and others will have charge of the music during the revival. The series of services will con tinue nightly at 7:30 o'clock through Sunday May 13. Rev. Don E. Conrad, pastor of the church, extends a cordial invita- I tion to the public to attend.
