The following regulations apply to Ushing in the park: All park waters ar? open to Ash ing except the following: North Carolina: Lands Creek; Mingux Creek; Chestnut Branch: that parj of Raven Pork and all tributaries thereof lying upstream from the Cherokee Indian Reservation boundary at Big Cove. Tennessee: All waters of the Middle Prong of Little Pigeon River above the mouth of Ramsey Prong except the waters of Ramsey Prong. No A*b caught In the waters of Itradrey Pork In North Carolina nor In the waters of the West Prong of 'Little' Pigeon River In Tennessee shall be retained but each Ash caught in these waters shall be carefully handled with moist bands ? and retdtned at once to the water. Fishing la permitted with only ;artlAcia! Ales or lures with one ,-hook. The possession of minnows - or olhgr bait Ash or use thereof as bait, or placlnf of food In any waters for attracting Ash la pro hibited. The National Park Service makes no charge for fishing but persona fishing within the parte must pro cure the ? resident or non-resident state license issued and required by Tennessee or the resident or non-resident state or county li cense 0.' permit issued and re quired by North Carolina. The possessor of a resident fish ing license Issued by the State of North Carolina ahall not fish on the Tenneasee side - of the park without flrat having obtained a fishing license Issued by the State of Tennessee, and the possessor of a resident Ashing license Issued by the State of Tennessee ahall not fish on the North Carolina aide of the park without first having ob tained a fishing license issued by the State of North Carolina. Issued by the State of Tennessee or by the State of North Carolina may flah throughout the park during the open season. ? i 90 Agricultural Workers To Visit Jule Boyd Farm Approximately 90 agricultural workers from a number of Mid western and Western States will visit the Jule Boyd farm at Jona than Creek Tuesday. May 22, on a tour sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority. On the TVA tour, which starts at AshevtUe, will be county agents, agricultural economists, faculty members of agricultural colleges, and other officials?all of whom are charged with supervision of TVA assistance In their particular areas. Toastmasters Club Meeting Slated On Monday Night The Waynesvllle Toastmasters Club will meet at 7:15 p.m. Mon day at Shepard's Restaurant, It has been announced. Speakers will be Jerry Rogers, John Reeves, Mack McAuley, and A1 Marshall. Evaluators for their talks will be Ted Stackpole, Wayne Rogers, A1 Hunt, and Homer Jus tice. Clyde Band To Present First Concert The Clyde SrtmoT tnrmrwTTTpt*. sent its first concert Thursday, May 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the school audi torium. The band, organized last fall and directed by Miss Mary Osborne, is composed of students from the fifth through the eighth grades. Charles Isley, director of the Waynesvllle High School band, will be the guest speaker. Tickets may be bought from the students or at the door On the night of the concert. Women's Group Has Ladies Day Golf Tournament A Ladles Day tournament was held by women golfers at the Waynesvllle Country Club last week. Mrs. Bill Ray had the low' net and Mrs Bill Prevent won the low putt In the 18-hole group. In the nine-hale group. Mrs. Paul McElroy won the low net and Mrs. Dave Felmet the low putt. Rock Hill Places First At Elementary Field Day A speedy squad from Rock Hill School captured first place in the annual Waynesville District Ele mentary School field day in the WTHS stadium. Rock Hill compiled a total of 61, i while Hazelwood was runner-up with 45 points. Central Elementary was third with 40, Lake Junaluska ' was fourth with IS. East Waynes- 1 ville was fifth with 19, and Maggie * was sixth with 9. Rock Hill took six first places, 1 Central Elementary took four. Waynesville scored one run in the first inning on doubles by EreII and Ballance. and two more in the second as B>Vd was hit by a pitch, Mitchell tripled, scoring Byrd, and Davis singled, scoring Mitchell. The Mountaineers added a fourth run in the Afth inning as Holder walked, and Hill and Carver sin gled, scoring Holder. Erwin scored its first run in the fifth on two errors and a single by Coxie. In the seventh inning. Smith singled for Erwin, Cowan hit to the pitcher, but Mitchell over threw second base and tossed the ball into center field. Herron walk ed, Coxie struck out, and Rhymer walked, forcing Smith in. Ballance then relieved Mitchell for Waynes ville, and struck out Dover. But Medford then singled to center field, scoring Cowan and Herron. The visitors woh the game in the ninth inning on singles by Her ron and Dover. Cowan struck out 10 and gave up nine hits for Erwin. Mitchell yield ed seven safeties and struck out eight. Waynesville was charged with four errors, Erwin with none. Champion To Meet Ohio In Doubleheaders At Home The Champion YMCA softball t team faces probably the toughest foe ot the 1956 season at home Fri- i day and Saturday nights when the i powerful Bart's Bar squad of Co lumbus, Ohio, comes to the Paper I City. I The Champions are now sporting a win streak of 12 straight games without a setback, but will have to 1 go all out to keep their record un blemished against the Buckeye Staters^ Last season the two teams split an eight-game series. Last Saturday night, the 1955 Southern regional champions took a doubleheader from Spartanburg, S. C.. on the losers' home field, 4-1, and 7-2. In the first game, Carroll Wal droop gave up four hits, while Can ton was. getting six off Spartan burg's hurler. During ? the tilt, Waldroop struck out seven op ponents. In the nightcap. Wade Garrett and Bobby Pace teams up to stop the Palmetto team on only three hits, w{iile Canton banged out a total of 15. Garrett whiffed 11 j hitters in five innings, and Pace Whiffed two. Mease caught both games. Champion was charged wtih three errors in the first game, two in the second. Pacing the Y squad in pitching at present is Garrett with a 6-0 record, while Naii Miller has a 4-0 mark, and Waldroop is 2-0.
