Class Has Social ?
The Joy Clan* of the Bethel
Methodist Church held Us monthly
social Saturday night In the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh K. Terrell.
The event was a hamburger fry
and menders of the class who
graduated this year from Bethel
High School were guests.
The occasion also marked the
completion of re-decorating the
class room In the church. Walls
?f the room were painted light
green and the altar and beck
Iropg were covered with dark
green velveteen. Mr. and Mrs. Ray
rrizzell donated the paint and as
itsted in applying it. Betty Sue
West made the altar covering, and
mothers of the class members
helped raise money by cooking a
meal for the class to serve the
Lions Club. All members of the
class assisted in other ways.
Mrs. Oliver Yount, Jr.", and her
son, Cecil, spent last week in Wil
mington with the former's father.
Harry Evans, Sr., and returned
Tuesday wltl. Mr. Yount, who
spent the past two weeks in
Charleston, 8. C. training with the
Naval Reserve.

MUs Sheila Anne Cole, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. J M. Cole of
Leicester, became the bride of
James Howard West, son of Mr.
and Mrs. J. A. West of Canton,
Saturday evening June 2 in the
home of her parents.
The Rev. William Clark, pastor
of the Grace Methodist Church of
Leicester, performed the double
ring ceremony in the presence of
members of the two families.
The bride wore a white satin,
flcor length gown, designed along
princess lines. The long tapered
sleeves ended in points at the
wrists, and the fitted bodice fea
tured a V neckline. Her veil of
illusion was attached to a small
cap of matching satin. She carried
a white Bible topped with pink
rosebuds and baby's breath, and
showered with satin streamers.
Following the ceremony an in
formal reception was held. For
a wedding trip to Florida, the
bride wore a light blue silk shan
tung dress and duster, white ac
cessories, and the corsage from her
Bible.
Mrs. West is a graduate of
Leicester High School. Mr. West,
a graduate of Bethel High School,
served four years in the U. S. Air
Force, and is now employed by the
Champion Paper and Fibre Com
pany. The couple will reside in
Clyde.

Is visiting her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Howard
Bryson.

Miss Carolyn Medford, daughter
of Mrs. John Medford of Canton
and the late Mr. Medford, became
the bride of Roy Harkins of Can
ton. son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B.
Harkins of Cleveland, Ga.. Satur
day June 2 at 4 p.m. in Long's
Methodist Church.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by the Rev. Kenneth
Crouse, pastor of the church. A
program of music was presented by
C. L. Turner, brother-in-law of the
bride, organist, and Paul Franklin,
soloist.
The bride was given in marriage
by her brother, Boyce Medford.
She wore a gown of white satin
and lace, designed with princess
lines. The long tapered sleeves
ended in points and the skirt ex
tended into a train. Her finaertiD
veil of imported illusion was at
tached to a cap encrusted with
seed pearls. She carried a white
Bible topped with a white, purple
throated, orchid, and carnation
streamers. Her string of pearls was
a gift of the bridegroom.
Mrs. Eva Lou Breece of Canton
was the bride's on\y attendant.
She wore a floor length dress of
rose taffeta and net, and carried
a nosegay of mixed spring flowers.
Gerald Breece was best man.
Boyd Medford, brother of the
bride, and Bill Bullock were ushers.
After a wedding trip to the
coast, the couple will reside near
Canton.
Mrs. Harklns is a graduate of
Bethel High School, and Is now,
employed in' the Sample Office of
the Champion Paper and Fibre
Company in Canton.
Mr. Harklns is a graduate of
Cleveland High School. He served
in the U. S. Navy and is presently
employed at Murphy Chevrolet
Company in Canton.

ing held by Mrs. Iola Pritchard,
State College, Raleigh and a recipe
for strawberry jam.

Varieties" was given by Mrs. Bill
