became the bride of Jesse Howard
Burnette. son of Mr. and Mrs.
Ellis F. Burnette of Canton, RFD
3. Tuesday, June 19, at 5 p.m. in
the Bethel Methodist Church.
The ceremony was performed
by Dr. L. B. Hayes, pastor of the
church. Miss Grace Erwin, organ
ist, and Hugh K. Terrell, Jr.,
soloist, presented the wedding
music.
The altar was decorated with
fern, floor baskets of white gladioli,
and branched candelabra and the
vows were spoken before an arch |
covered with ivy.
The bride was given in marriage j
by her father. Her gown of white
bridal satin was fashioned with |
princess bodice of Chantilly lace
and full skirt extending into a 1
chapel train. The bodice featured
a scalloped neckline and long
leeves ending in lily points. Her i
fingertip veil of silk illusion was ;
attached to a petal-point cap ofI
Chantilly lace edged' with braid
and seed pearls. She carried a
white prayer book with a white or
chid.
Miss Margaret Sherrill, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor. Her
full-length gown was aqua crys
talette silk featuring a sheared
waist with bow in the back. She
Wore matching mitts and head
dress and carried a bouquet of
magnolia blossoms.
Sharon Erwin, niece of the j
bridegroom, was flower girl and
Joe Morgan, cousin of the bride,
was ringbearer. The flower girl
wore a dress similar to that of
the maid of honor.
Max Burnette was his brother's
best man and ushers were Fulton j
Burnette, brother of the bride
groom. James Cathey, cousin of
(he bridegroom, and Charles L.
West.

Mrs. Sherrill, mother of the
bride, wore an aqua dress with
white accessories and a corsage
of white carnations The bride
groom's mother wore navy and
white with white a<-cessories and
her corsage was rlso of white
carnations.
The couple receivec in the vesti
bule of the church following the j
ceremony after which they left s
for a wedding trip. For traveling
the bride wore a light blue sheath
dress with matching Jacket, navy
and white accessories, and the '
orchid corsage from her prayer 1
book. I
Upoh their return they will make
their home in Brevard.
Mrs. Burnette is a graduate of
Bethel High School and Western
Carolina College. She has been
connected with the Belmont schools
for the past three years and plans
to teach in the Brevard schools
this fall.
Mr. Burnette was also graduated
from Bethel High School and is a
veteran of World War II. He is'
now employed with the Ecusta
Paper Corporation in Brevard.
