New Church
Construction started this spring
on a new $150,000 sanctuary, the
ambitious project of the First
Baptist Church of Hazelwood.
The congregation hopes to occupy
the structure early next year.
The 503-member church is fi
nancing the construction by sell
ing bonds and by making con
tributions to the building fund.
Total gifts this year have been
over $25,000. and, operating on
a - "pay-as-you-go" basis, mem
bers have high hopes of holding
their first worship service in the
new church on Founders' Day.
the 40(h anniversary of the Hazel
wood church.
While keeping their eyes fixed
on the far horizon of a new
building, the congregation can
still focus on minute details: a
recent acquisition to the church's
kitchen is a 100-cup eoflfee pot
The men decided that since they
didn't want to divert any cash
from the building fund, they
could just go out and peddle
enough magazine subscriptions lo
win the desired coffee pot as a
prize.
