with a new pastor, the Kev W
II Marquis, graduate of Morris
Harvey College, with prior work
in the University of Cincinnati,
and also a graduate of Columbia
Thologiral Seminary in Decatur,

Last summer the Rev. John
H. Knight of the First Presbyter
ian Church in Smyrna. Ga . con
ducted revival services, and this
spring the leader was the Rev.
W C. Cooper, of the, Arden
Presbyterian Church.
Miss Mary Lee Smith, a stu
dent at the Assembly Training
School in Richmond. Va., served
litis summer as Director of Chris
tian Education. Also during the
summer months, the young peo
ple of the Church invited James
Smith, ministerial student of
Kanawha Presbytery, to hold a
Youth Crusade. During the week
of services. 18 >oung people made
decisions, The summer was con
cluded with a study of the Book
of Deuteronomy, conducted by
Dr. Manford George Gutzke. pro
fessor of English Bible at Co
lumbia Thcologicaf Seminary. Dr.
Gutzke came ut the invitation of
lite Women of the Church.

A brand-new nursery has been
completely furnished by the Men
ef the Church, who partitioned
the rooms, and Elmer Dudley,
who made the beds and play pens

row made two tables, and all the

of their time and talents in
bringing this work to comple- ]
tion. A new $4500 Wurlitzer
organ was installed during the
year, and dedication services
were held in September. The or
gan was purchased as a memorial
to Harry R (Blue' Robinson.
Last summer the church mem
bership totaled 110 -today the
membership is 130. an increase
of 20 3 per cent. Nineteen of
these 29 new-members were re
ceived on profession of faith and
ten by transfer of letters.
Smoky Mountains Company Makes Plant Food
Installation of a now largo
aluminum tank for storage of
nitrogen fertilizer solutions was
the major operation this year
at Smoky Mountains Fertilizer
Company. The tank, according
to executives, "enables us to give
better service to our customers
and also makes it possible to
manufacture fertilizer in even
better mechanical conditions than
we have done in the past." Plans
for growth are in the air, but
the spokesman reported "nafhlng
ing definite at this time."
The company requires a maxi
mum of 25 employees to handle
ihe various processes that turn
raw material from all over the
hemisphere into something that
the gardener uses in every quant
ity from a teaspoonful to" a 100
pound sack.
