Christmas play for the PTA Tues

Pageant Will Be
In Ninevah 24th

A Christmas pageant. "The Blue
Overall Angel" will be given at the
Ninevah Baptist church. Monday
Dec. 24
The chorus will begin at 7 p.m
and tlie play will start at 7:30.
The W.M.U. met at the home of
Miss Selma Baldwin Saturday. A
Christmas program was given, and
gifts exchanged. Plans were made
to purchase the stairway matting
for the basement steps of the
Ninevah chureh.
Mrs. Fred Troutman haft return
ed home from the Mission Hospital.
Her condition is much improved.
Mrs. Don Kei*" is back home
from Mission Hosp.tsl, where she
underwent treatment :or injuries
sustained in an automobile wreck.
Mrs. Jerry Gaddv and daugh
ter. Oberia Caddy, left Friday to
spend Christmas in Chicago, with
Mr. Caddy.

Edson E. Bates
New Industrial ?
ESC Supervisor
An Ashevi'Ie man, Edson E.
Bates, Jr has been appointed in
dustrial serrvices supervisor for
the Employment Security Commis
sion. ESC Chairman Henry E.
Kendall announced today.
Bates, who has been serving as
occupational analyst, succeeds Aid
en P. Honeycutt who recently was
promoted to chief of staff ser
vices.
Bates joined the Commission
February 21, 1946 as interviewer
at Bryson City. He later served as
interviewer at Hendersonville and
as supervising interviewer at
Murphy. After a tour of military
duty in 1950. he worked a* vet- '
erans' employment representative
at Bryson City and as claims de
puty at Greensboro. He came to
the central office in October, 1955
as occupational analyst.
In his new post, Bates will work
closely with employers in the
State on personnel problems and
programs, handling such mattes
as position classification studies,
turnover studies in industrial
plants, and establishment of test
ing programs fu. i.ew industries.
