ies. One gave his life at Pearl
Harbor on Dec. 7th, 1941. The;
other six lads are fighting on var
ious fronts. This leaves Mr. and
Mrs. Hilton, the parents, to back
the attack at home, by getting in
the 'cotton crop on their six-acre
farm.
: The two remaining Htltons,
though, can't pick cotton as fast
"ks, their stalwart sons.

College, on a surprise visit one
Sunday afternoon to pay tribute
in labor to the patriotic Hiltons.

camp in the history of the

the number of Scouts and troops,
and the expansion of Negro scou
ting. He reported that Mr. and Mrs.
N. A. Edwards had given a health
lodge to Tuscarora Camp in honor
of their son, the late Nelson Ar
thur Edwards and that Dr. Rose
and W. P. Kemp had underwrit
ten a new mess nau to oe ouut
before the 1944 camping season.
He introduced B. Y. Wolfe, new
Scout executive.
E. L. Woodall of Smithfieid rec
ognized the following 12 boys, one
of whom now overseas, who
have become Eagle Scouts in the

John Herring of Smithfieid was .
presented a certificate of heroism
for having saved the life of Bobby
Farmer, 11, last August when
Bobby fell off a log while trying
to cross Neuse River. W, A. Dod
son of Atlanta, regional director
of Boy Scouts of America, made
the presentation and made a plea
for more Scout leaders.
J. Arthur Best, probation offi
cer for Wayne County for the past
10 years, said that not one Boy
Scout has been called into juvenile
court here.
