THIGPEN - STRICKLAND
Before an alter of palms, inter
spersed with tall standards bear
ing white tapers and baskets of
white carnations and gladiolii, the
marriage of Miss Pheatrace Strick
land, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fronis Strickland of Tabor City,
and Wilton A. Thigpen of Raleigh,
formerly of Beulaville, son of Mr.
and Mrs. E. P. Thigpen of War
saw, was solemnized in the Cherry
Grove Baptist Church near Tabor
City, in the presence of relatives
and close friends of the couple.
The Rev. L. L. Todd of Bladen
boro received the marriage vows,
and preceding the ceremony, Miss
Cathern Richardson sang "I Love
You Truly". Wedding music was
rendered by Misses Florine Strick
land and Mary Alice Williamson.
The bride entered with her un
cle, Mr. E. C. Richardson, who
gave her in marriage. She was
gowned in a street length model
of white, triple sheer with white
hat and accessories, and a corsage
of white roses and stephanotis.
The maid-of-honor, the bride's
only attendant, Mrs. Morris Mitch
ell of Spring Hope, was attired in
a dress of white, triple sheer,
street length, with which she wore
a small pink hat and pink gloves.
Her flowers were pink carnations, i

best man, and ushers were Win
fred and Roger Richardson, cous
ins of the bride.
Following the wedding cere
mony, the bridal party and out-of-town
relatives were entertained
at an informal chicken dinner at
Little Pee Dee Lodge near Nick
ols, S. C.,
Mrs. Thigpen received her edu
cation at Chadbourn and Peace
College, Raleigh. Mr. Thigpen
graduated from Beulaville High
School and King's Business CoJI
ego, Raleigh. He recently received
a Medical Discharge from tlie V.
S. C. G. At present he holds a re
sponsible position with lh; Sea
board Railroad in Raleigh, where
the fcuple will make th-ji- home.
