KENANSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA Society and Mr. And Mrs. Brinson Honored Saturday Eve. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Brinson, recent bride and groom, were hon ored on Saturday evening with a floating shower in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Brown of Ke nansville. The hostesses were Mes dames Brown, Willard Brinson, Maurice Brinson and Miss Edna Earle Edgerton. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Brinson greeted the callers at the door, and presented them. Receiving in the living room were Mr. and Mrs. Brown, the honorees, Mrs. John Goodman, the bride's mother, and Mrs. Cora E. Brinson, the groom's mother. Miss Mary Ellen Good man, sister of the bride, received in the dining room where Miss Ed na Earle Edgerton poured punch. Misses Janet Boney, Jean Tyndall, and Hilda Brinson served cookies and salted nuts, assisted by Mrs. Percy Blanton. The table was covered with an embroidered imported Irish linen cloth and centered with a low ar rangement of chrysanthemums in a crystal howl. White candles in - a three branched crystal candlela bra flanked the centerpiece. The punch bowl was decorated with Galax leaves. Mrs. Woodrow Brinson presided at the bride's book. Mrs. Flake Sechler, of China Grove, invited the guests into the gift room where Mrs. E. D. Edgerton, with Mrs. Dan Templeton, of China Grove, greeted the guests. Saying goodbyes were Mr. and Mrs. Mau rice Brinson. The reception rooms were can dlelighted and decorated with chrysan themums. Bridge Club Meets Mrs. J. R. Grady was hostess to the members of her bridge club on Monday evening. Prior to adjourn ment high score prize was award ed Mrs. Vance Gavin for club members and to Miss Hilda Clontz for visitors. Personals Announce Marriage Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Thomas of Beulaville, announce the marriage of their daughter, Marguerite, to Mr. Bill Williamson of Kenansville on Saturday, November 3, in Kln ston. Mr. and Mrs. Williamson will make their home in Kenans ville. Scout Week Observed Last week was Girl Scout Week and it was well observed by the Scouts in Kenansville. Sunday the Girl Scouts went to church in uni form, with a good group in both patrols. Tuesday, the regular meeting was held with Scout Shirley Tyn dall as hostess, at which time an informal board of review was held. Membership cards for the New Year, which expires August 1946, were given to scouts and troop committeemen present; after which Theo Hollingsworth was in vested as a new tenderfoot scout. Mesdames Eugene Tyndall, G. V. Gooding, Parker Quinn and Miss Gertrude Johnson, assistant scout leader, assisted Mrs. N. B. Boney, scout leader. Scout Tyndall served coca colas and cookies. Friday, the Scouts met in the Scout rooms at 4:00 and joined the Boy Scouts in a Motorcade to Grooms Lodge. Kenansville was represented by forty-six scouts and interested friends. Tuesday afternoon of this week, the Girl Scouts held their regular meeting and practiced for the pa rade in the Armistice Day Cele bration. PERSONALS Master Ray Carlton spent Sat urday in Warsaw with Buster Joyner. Eric Long is visiting in Chapel Hill. Mrs. Jack Kilpatrick visited in Kenansville Tuesday. Sgt and Mrs. Julian Wilmott of Camp Butner visited Mrs. Daisy Craven several days last week. Mrs. P. J. Mrs. Peter Stafford, Jr., spent a few days in Raleigh this week. Mrs. L. F. Weeks and daughter, Jean, spent Saturday in Raleigh where they joined Mr. Weeks and attended the football game. Miss Anne DaiL of ECTC, was home for the week end. The J. M. Brock's visited in Ke nansville Thursday night. Mesdames Alfred Kafer and children and Noble Martin and children of New Bern visited Mr. E. R. Penney and Mrs. C. B. Guth rie the past week end. Mr. and Mrs. George Giles are spending several days with her parents, Mr. .and Mrs. P. J. Dob son, before returning to New York where they will make their home. Mr. Robert Sykes is visiting at Haw River. Miss Mary Lee Sykes is visiting in Raleigh. Cpl. and Mrs. John Willard and daughter are spending several days in Raleigh, Mrs. John Goodman and daugh ter, Mary Ellen, Mrs. Dan Temple ton, and Mrs. Flake Sechler of China Grove visited Mr. and Mrs. Lester Brinson the past week end. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Blanton and children of Wilmington, spent the week end with Mrs. Cora Brinson. Capt. Beecher Ward Sitterson visited at home for a few days. Mr. Ralph Carlton and Harry and Mr. C. E. Quinn attended the ball game in Raleigh Saturday. Capt. Bill Ingram has returned to camp in Atlanta. Mr. and Mrs. John Douglas Mc Bride spent the past two weeks in Raeford. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Stalllngs are moving to Raleigh where Mrs. Stallings has accepted a position at State College. Mrs. Brinson won top score for rummy and was also presented a soup plate in her chosen pattern of china. The hos tess served ice cream and cakes, carrying out the traditional color scheme of green and white. Leonard Southerland Home On Furlough Pvt. Leonard Southerland, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Southerland, is home on furlough after having served with the Third Army, 16th Division, in France and Germany for - six months. His wife and daughter, of Near Bern, are also here with him on his 45 day leave, after which time he will report to Fort Belvior, Va. Giles-Dobson Miss Janet: Dobson, youngest daughter vof Mr. and Mrs. Perry J. Dobson, of Kenansville, N. C, and World War I ended and since that time we have annually cele brated the end of that conflict. We have just concluded another 'war, more terrible than the first - The people of Duplin County have contributed unstintedly of their resources, their funds, their' boys and girls to bring about another Armistice. The bride was escorted by ner father, Perry J. Dobson, by whom she was given in maanriage. She wore a white wool suit with brown accessories and a shoulder eorsage of white roses. The groom, a veteran of World War II, was attended by Ms father M. S. Giles, of Cherry Valley, N. Y., as best man. (Prior to the ceremony, the white candles in tall candlebra were lighted by Arnold Dobson, of Wil mington, N. C, who is the bride's brother. The vows were spoken in front of an improvised altar of long leaf pine interspersed with white chry santhemums and fern. Immediately following the cere mony, the bride's parents enter tained at an informal reception if or the bridal couple, out of town guests and near neighbors. A col or scheme of green and white was carried out in the decorations. (The dining table waa overlaid wiih a large cloth and centered with three tier wedding gake, top ped with a miniature bride and groom. The Dobsons were assisted by Mr. and Mrs. J. E.
