J. West, arrived in Warsaw last week from Camp Shelton, Va., where he received his discharge from the Navy, after serving four years. 'IT. BLACKMORE HOME Lt. Frank Blackmore and fam ily are visiting in the home of his parents), Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Blackmore in Warsaw. While in service, he was commander of an LST. He has a brother, Capt. L Matthis is getting along nicely following an operat ion in James Walker Hospital last Thursday. Mrs. J. W. Quinn returned on Monday from Whispering Cedars, in Goldsboro, where she had been a patient several weeks. Much improvement is noted in the condition of J. T. Grrsham, Sr., who has been ill at his home on Pine St. last week. Miss Janie Belle Blackmore has returned from Duke Hospital, where she underwent treatment for several weeks. Her condition is (juite improved. Miss Draughon Gives Unique Party Miss Janice Draughon celebrat ed her "'Till l-irtht'av last Tuesday night by entertaining -several of of her friends at a unique and en tertaining Slumber Parly. After gathering at her home, the group attended the basketball game and following the game re turned to the home where they enjoyed a delicious spaghetti sup per, and remained for the Slum ber Party. Rouse, of Warsaw, announce the engage ment of their daughter, Helen, to Sgl. Robert A. Hunter, USMC, of Lowell, Mass. The wedding will take place Friday Feb. 1st, 1946, at 7:30 P. M. in the Warsaw Methodist Church. Miss Rouse, now a senior at ECTC, is the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rouse of Rt. 2. Sgt. Hunter, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Hunter, of Lowell, Mass., is stationed at Cherry Point. O'LEARY - BLANCHARD Miss Annie Maye Blanchard, daughter of the late David W. and Hattie H. Blanchard, of Magnolia, ' was wed to Russell Patrick O' Leary, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. O'Leary, of Trenton, Pa., on Saturday, January 12, 1946 in the Army Post Chapel at Mitchell Field, N. Y. Mrs. O'Leary, a graduate of Magnolia High School, lived in Warsaw, where she was office nurse to Dr. J. W. Straughan, be fore serving 2 1-2 years in the WACs. The bridegroom is a staff sergeant in the regular army. Bible Class Meets With Mrs. Powell Mrs. S. J. Powell, President, en tertained the Sallie E. Johnstone Bible Class Wednesday evening in her home with 11 present. Mrs. A. M Williams led the devotionals and Mrs-. II. R. Hipp had charge f the Bible Study. Following the business the hostess served sand wiches, cookies, nuts and hot chocolate. Guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Jones for the week end were .her mother and sisters, Mrs. C. H. Bundy, Lt. and Mrs. P. M. Man guai, Mrs. C. W. Hart and Jean Bundy of Raleigh. Mesdames Lela Mftldleton, B. C. Surratt and L. S. Whittle spent Monday in Goldsboro. Mr. and Mrs. S. Katz were in Richmond last week attending the wedding and., reception of their niece. Mr. and Mrs. Waddell Brinson and Ellis Joseph, Jr. visited his parents near Beulaville Sunday. Miss Hazel Strickland was home for the week end. Mrs. J. F. Strickland and son have returned to Sanford. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Porter and Mrs. L. R. Quinn visited Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Ramsey in Burgaw Sunday. Mrs. C. P. Minshew of Fremont was guest last week of Mr. and Mrs. Belton Minshew. She and Mrs. Minshew shopped in Wilson Friday. Judge and Mrs. Henry L. Ste vens, Jr., spent the week end at their cottage at Swells Ferry Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Whittle and son of MeI.oniisn!, were the guests last week of his brother, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Whittle.
