test will be staged with all entries.
The girls will wear swim suits and
will be carefully judged by repre
sentatives of the Movie Industry
who will come to Wallace for this
purpose. It was first stated that

tographs by Kay Kyser hi Holly
wood, but people throughout this
section have t argued that this
could not be fairly judged by pho
tographs ana so -judges from the
movie industry have been secured
to juda tills contest in the flesh
before the people of the commun

The girl selected as "Strawberry
Queen," will be crowned by Gov
ernor R. Gregg Cherry on the
stage and her court of honor will
be named. This contest will take
place' In' between" the' big stagi
shows appearing at the auditorium.

court will be held in the Comrnun-
ity building. At nine o'clock on the
same evening the "Strawberry
Queen's Ball" wflT be held in the
main auditorium with music by
Betty McQuire and her Interna
tionally famous All Girl Orchestra.
Over this glittering and colorful
Ball the "Strawberry Queen" and
her court will reign supreme. Sen
ator Clyde R. Hoey and" other na
tionally known figures will also
be present and join in honoring
the ."Queen" and with the festivi
ties of the evening.
1 The girl who is judged by the
Movie experts as the most beau
tiful and best proportioned girl
will be come nationally famous
over night This opportunity will
only come but once in a lifetime
to the lucky girl who will have a
door to- a mogic city and colorful
career opened before her.

Leonard Garland Southerland,
67, died at his home at Penderlea
Farms in Pender .Couty Saturday
morning as the result of a stroke
of apoplexy. Funeral services were
held from the Tyndall Funeral
Home in Mt Olive Sunday after
noon at 3:30, conducted by the Rev.
A. M. Williams, Methodist minis
ter of Warsaw, assisted by the Rev.
M. Y. Self of Mt. Olive. Burial was
in Winders cemetery near Mt, Ol

Surviving are his-wife, Mrs. Can
nie Grady Southerland; seven chil
dren, Carl and Henry, of the home,
Robert and Leonard, of Warsaw,
Leslie, of Beautancus, and Flora-
