Fermate -may be used as a dust
or a spray. As a dust the cost' is
somewhat greater, bat It Is easier
and more quickly applied than the
spray, - 5 .- , j-
To prepare the material for dus
ting the Fermate . is mixed with
pyrophyllite so that th final mix
ture contains IS percent of Fer
mate. A good crank-type duster
should be used, with,, the hopper
never filled more than 2-3 full , to
assure an even flow. . . The dust
should" be applied .in the .early
morning when the air is still and
while the plants are wet with dew.
The first applications will require
one and one-half pounds of the
dust mixture for each 100 square
yards of bed gradually increasing
to where three to four pounds will
be required for the last applica
tions. -
