Card Of Thanks The family of the late William Spencer Winstead wish to express their sincere thanks and apprecia tion for the kindnesses shown them during the recent death of their father. Alonza E. Smith Alonza E. Smith, 77, died at the home of his brother, W. I. T. Smith near Gregory Fork early Thursday morning of last week after a iShg i illness. Funeral services were held at the home with the Rev. R. C. Canady, Free Will Baptist minister of Beulaville, officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery. Surviving are two brothers, W. I. T. Smith of the home, and R. A. Smith of Pink Hill. William R. Bishop William Riley Bistiop, 77, died at his home in Magnolia Saturday morning. Funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. J. B. Sessoms. Burial was in the family cemetery. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Percy Blanton, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Vestal, Mr. and Mrs. D. F. Chambers, Mr. and Mrs. Paul In gram, Miss Margaret Williams and Miss Mary Lee Uykes of Kenans ville; Mr. and Mrs. Manley Korne- il ay and Miss Viola Westbrook of Seven Springs; Mr. and Mrs. Har vey Blake of Burgaw; Mrs. Wilbur Adams of Carolina Beach and Miss Ellen Shine of Rocky Mount, visitor from the Junior Class of the same year. Quite a bit of reminiscing was done and it was decided to make an annual event of this gathering. Mrs. Mary Souther land told of the plans that had been made for the May Birthday Party which will be held on May 26 at 8:00 p. m. in the Sunday School rooms. All of the ladies of the church are urged to be present. Woman's Club Met Thursday The iirst meeting of the Kenans ville Woman's Club for the new cluD year was held Thursday after noon, April 24, with Mrs. P. J. Dobson, new president, presiding. Mrs. Lllis Vestal was appointed publicity chairman and Mrs. J. E. Jerritt custodian of the club rooms. Tho program was given by the American Hume Department with Miss Hilda Clontz as chairman, and tiiey presented an impromptu skit concerning "Food and Health." Characters were: Agent, Miss Hilda Clontz; patient, Mrs. Caroline Gav in; doctor, Mrs. W. M. Brinson; nurse, Mrs. Alton Newton; garden leader, Mrs. Dan Davis. After the program the meeting adjourned to the Cafe for refreshments. Entertain Faculty At Luncheon Mesdames J. C. Murphy, Walter Stroud, E. A. Newton and Mary Southerland entertained the Ke nansville school faculty at a lunch eon Tuesday in the lunch room. The table was centered with lovely arrangements of spring flowers. K. Guy of Kenans ville, and William Bedford of Ral eigh,' son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John T. Bedford of Pikesvllle, were married in Raleigh on Satur day, March 15. The bride wore a white crepe blouse and matching gloves and hat, with black accessories. ' , Mrs. Bedford attended the Golds boro and Kenansville public schools, and at the time of her marriage, she was a student at King's Busi ness College and was employed, at the Walgreen Drug Company In Raleigh, The bridegroom la also employed at the Walgreen Drug Company. The couple are residing at 121 North Blount St in Raleigh. Entertains At Bridge One of the loveliest parties of the season was given on Monday even ing by Mrs. W. A. Taylor when she entertained at nine tables of bridge. Her home was most attractive with arrangements of spring flowers and dog wood. When the guests arri ved, the hostess served delicious strawberry short cake and during play candied peanuts and coca colas were served. When scores , were totaled Mrs. Vance Gavin was aw arded a table cloth for high score, Mrs. G. V. Gooding a double deck of cards for second high and Mrs. J. B. Wallace a novelty Horn of Plenty for traveling prize.- The Parent Teachers Association of Kenansville will sponsor' Mrs. Audrey Bulier's Dancing Class on Tuesday night, May 6th at 8:00 o'clock in the Kenansville School Auditorium. Admission 25 and 35 cents. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Lee Will iamson and daughter of Jackson spent last week end with Mr. and Mrs. C S. Williamson. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Langston of Goldsboro and Mr. and Mrs. D. S. Inscoe of Raleigh were week end visitors of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Wells. Mrs. Reed Ross of Lillington visited Mr, and Mrs. A. W. Taylor for a few days.
