Youth Entertain
The Youth Fellowship, sponsored
by Mrs. G. V. Gooding, had a pretty
party Sunday evening at the Sun
day School rooms, for their mo
then: The program consisted of an
educational skit in playlet' form,
after which contests were held and
games were played. A social hour
"was enjoyed at which time the
hosts served ice cream and indivi
dual cup cakes carrying put a color
scheme of pink, and green. Each
mother was presented a miniature
: corsage.
Stork Shower
On Wednesday evening Mrs. Bet-
ty Whitfield entertained at a stork
- shower honoring Mrs. Billy Whit
field. About thirty-five guests were
present. A contest was held- and
three tied for the prize which was
awarded Miss Dora Betty Dixon
for drawing the lucky number. Mrs.
Billy Whitfield won a prize In a
second contest. A baby carriage was
rolled in laden with gifts; which
the honoree opened. The guests
were' Invited into-the dining room
where a punch bowl was artistically
arranged on the dining table and
the hostess served punch and cook
ies. ."f:'i-: ' i "
May Birthday Party
The 25th anniversary of the Wo
man's Auxiliary of the Presbyterian
church was observed in the Sunday
School rooms Monday evening with
the president, Mrs. N. B. Boney and
secretary, Mrs. J. G. Morrison pre;
siding over the business session
which was followed by the program.
Mrs. Mary Southerland, secretary
of Foreign 'Missions, had charge of
the program. the topic being "Bro
thers or Bombs". Mrs. John Currie
furnished the music and Mrs. Caro
line Gavin offered a special prayer.
A silver offering was taken for
Foreign Missions.
The guests were invited into an
adjoining room where a birthday
cake topped with 25 candles graced J
eight 'tables of bridge hi.,,
Mrs. Margaretta Stafford, britle-
elect The guests were seated by
bridal tallies at the tables which
were placed in a bower of daisies,
roses and other spring flowers with
sweet peas trailing overhead and
a background of long leaf pine.
As each guest entered a nosegay
of Sweet peas was presented her
while the bride-elect and her mo
ther, Mrs. G. R. Dall, and sister,
Miss Anne Dail, were given cor
sages of roses. Coca colas were
served during the first progression
and at the end of play the honoree
was given a waffle iron and grill.
High score, a dainty bell, was won
by Miss Mildred Pate and present
ed to the bride by Miss Pate- Sec
ond high score, an Ice bowl with
tongs, was won by Mrs. L. F.
Weeks and a novelty vase for win
ning the most tricks with the deuce
of diamonds was presented Mrs.

vidual wedding ice cream molds,
individual cakes, small bridal bas
kets with nuts and mints and gin

The Kenansville Auxiliary were
guests of the Hallsville Auxiliary
at their May Birthday observance
held on Saturday afternoon at the
Hallsville Church in the new Sun
day School rooms. After the pro
gram, a social hour was enjoyed at

cake and punch.

Party for Foreign Missions of the
Pleasant View auxiliary was cele
brated Sunday afternoon with a
picnic supper. The table was cen
tered with a beautiful birthday
cake with 25 candles-on it Mrs. J
H. Byrd, the president, presided.
Mrs.. Leonard gave the Worship
services and the program was given
by Miss Mary Ellen Chambers as
sisted by Mesdames J. A. Mewborn,
J. H. Byrd, H. F. Grady, Graham
Teachey and Elsie Byrd. There
was 40 present for the party.

furniture as a memorial to his late
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wells
from their children.
Stillmans painting of "Christ at
tne Door" was given oy Mrs. O. C
Carter as a memorial to her hus
band, the late Mr. Owen Calvin
Carter. Painting was Unveiled by
Susan Bullock, granddaughter or
the late Mr. Carter. ; -
Mrs. Ashley Whitfield also gave
a Stillmans painting of '-'The Good
Shepherd" as a memorial to her
husband, the late Mr. Ashley H.
Whitfield. This painting was un
veiled by Rex Whitfield, grandson
of the late Mr. Whitfield.
Very appropriate songs, "O Jes
us, Thou Art Standing" and "The
Lord's Prayer" was rendered by
Mr. ana Mrs. Henry King, Mrs
Paul King, Mrs. N. B. Best and Mr,
and Mrs. Arnold Davis. Miss Belle
Grady also rendered several spec
ial piano selections.
Lunch was served in picnic style
and in the afternoon the following
gifts were dedicated:
, Complete furnishing for the pri
mary room, given as a memorial
to Mr. John L. Grady and wife
Emma Hines Grady by their chil
dren. Complete furnishings for young
people's classroom as a memorial to
the late Miss Evelyn Kornegay from
her family, Mr. and Mrs. Emmett
Kornegay and children.
-Day's program ended with the
partaking of the Lord's Supper.
